      The subconscious speaks

      Hey all,

Want to relate a strange experience with my subconscious last night.
After a long dry period I had 3 mediocre LD's last night.
They all led off each other, so nothing to be jealous about

I'll try keep it short. I wanted to chat to my subconscious and make a mutual understanding and agreement on doing LD. This is because I've noticed my subconscious doesn't like me being lucid - tries to trip me up.
Besides, your dreams are also meant to prevent insanity, for example.
(The way we all carry on maybe we are already all nuts )

Anyway, I became lucid and remembered my goal.
I half expected to fail, so suprisingly I heard a voice say 'Yeah, what do you want'.. or something to that effect. (manifests as a voice, but I think its more a feeling language)

I tried discussing the whole issue, and my subconscious (Call him SC) said that its fine if he can then control some of my waking awareness.
My conscious (call him C) felt .. well... arrogant about it (interesting cos I dont regard myself as generally arrogant) and said something to the effect of 'Of course not, are you nuts'. Irony..harhar

SC got annoyed, and stopped chatting. Right after this the dream changed.. into a false awakening. Interesting cos its the first one I've ever had. SC trying to get rid of me I guess.
Anyway, I soon noticed it was still a dream (after I feel off the bed and it was in a natural park of sorts).
The dream seemed unstable and felt like I was waking up... however I'm not sure if this was just another trick.
I concentrated on the textured detail of the dream and everything stabilised (finally got this right for once)

Then I shifted to another dream... very odd one.
To make a long story short, it seemed like I was doing some sort of chore my SC would normally do. There were also others in the dream, and I felt like I could control them. One was my wife.
My wife soon ran off outside my control and I was confused - I thought I can control of her.
I ran after her and idly asked why that happened

My subconscious replied with something to the effect of 'I can't control another agent'
It puzzled me and I lost concentration while trying to understand the meaning.
I still dont get it... any thoughts?

(BTW, my wife was unlikely to be dreaming at this time - and I told her the dream too. Not recollection of such a thing)

If there is one thing I know, its dream people can have crazy things to say. Any time I talked to someone and I talked about being lucid I always get weird answers. I noticed they don't normally come right out and say they don't want you lucid but it normally tries to confuse you and stuff.

      "I can't control another agent"

Odd, was SC telling you that you could not control a dream construct or that SC could not control C?

      Interesting! *adds to list*

hmm, my goal for the next LD i have is to summon my subconcious so i can talk to him and see if i can make some changes (lower my stress level in the physical world, make me more sympathetic, etc.)

maybe you were having a shared dream but your wife simply didnt remember?

Next time I have a lucid dream and remeber I am going to grab the first person I see, stare stright into their eyes and ask them who they are. And they are not going any where untill I get a good answer not some weird or confusing one.

Thanks for all the responses - it was quite an interesting set of dreams.

It seems strange to treat another part of yourself as another person. Smacks of schizophrenia really.
But if you have ever tried the exercise of being aware of your thoughts constantly (24/7)... difficult BTW... you'll notice that you have separate processes in your head all the time anyway. And many of them are developed enough to show a vague sort of personality. Some even 'talk' in a sense... more like thoughts running around than speech I suppose.
Judging it that way, we all have some form or schizophrenia in any case. The question is whether it bothers you or causes ill effects.

maybe you were having a shared dream but your wife simply didnt remember?[/b]
I've questioned my wife about it - and it might simply be that she didn't remember it. But theres also a fairly good chance she was already awake by this time. Hard to say for sure.

summon my subconcious so i can talk to him and see if i can make some changes[/b]
Well this is part of what I had in mind. I'm a little more ambitious though - I'm a firm believer in some form of global consciousness/knowledge. And that the SC far more likely to tap it. The other thing I had in mind is to try make a 'friendship' of sorts with SC where he could help me in my LD's too. Add some self-hypnosis in there, and well... potent stuff...

next time you should talk more forcefully to your SC. maybe then it'll listen. [/b]
SC isn't like you or me in many ways. He's there for a reason, and generally doesn't question your choices. He's there to do his job, and he does it. He's generally helpful, however if you get in the way of his job... seems like he gets a little edgy. I think SC is a little simple/stunted from a social point of view. Not suprising if you think about it. Oh, and it seems like his 'world' is dreams - and he doesn't like being overthrown as it interferes with his job.

My next step is to suggest that SC makes me lucid when he has extra time in my dreams to give to me. That way I dont interfere with the natural operation of my dreams and still get to LD regularly. Assuming I sleep long enough. If he wants I'll do meditation and allow him some time of my waking life every day - 15 minutes perhaps. Would be interesting to see what happens. If anything happens.

untill I get a good answer not some weird or confusing one[/b]
In my case, SC might simply have been trying to confuse me in order to get rid of me. I lost lucidity at that point, so it worked. This was after I had the first false awakening I've ever had - so makes sense.

      I've tried this thing tonight.

There were a lot of dream characters in my house, and I asked them

something. Then I recall my intentions to speak to my subconscious.

The line "I WANT TO SPEAK TO MY SUBCONSCIOUS MIND" flashes before

my eyes. The second I think of it, one of DC grabs me and tosses me on

the computer table. I'm kinda confused - why this happened... Anyway, I

reach for the gun in my pocket, but wake up....

      Any idea why I've failed?

I'm trying to compare with what I did...
Now that I think about it - I didn't actually get to the part of asking to speak to my subconscious. Just remembering my goal and then doubting I would get it right brought the whole thing about.

Perhaps your subconscious is as impressed as mine at being pushed around

The part about your subconcious asking for driving time while you're awake interested me the most. Not through meditation like you said, but in your everyday life. Imagine THINKING through your subconcious: the insights you could learn about yourself would be amazing. Like self-controlled total hypnosis. The possibilities of something like that are endless.

      Yep!
I've been thinking about it quite a lot. I still have no idea what to expect if that happened.

Haven't had an LD in a few days, so I haven't had the chance to continue the subject with SC
