When I started LDing, I would only become lucid from false awakenings. This changed after a few months though.

I've also noticed how your dreams get much more vivid after false awakenings. I think it's because you are expecting to wake up in the real world, thus you expect that everything will look normal and vivid (subconsciously, at least). *

False awakenings can also be used to extend LDs and/or make them more vivid. Simply induce an FA by will whenever your LD seems to fade (you could try leaning backwards and plummeting to the ground). Sometimes, you wake up for real, sometimes you wake up still in the LD.
OMG, that's me as well. FINALLY 2 nights ago I had my first LD that WASN'T a FA. But I will definitely try your technique next time to extend my next FA/LD. Great advice, thank you!
