      Rush in the darkness

Please take the time to read this.

I was in a dressing room with a group of people. We were changing for a shower. Because it was mixed, we had to go find a shower elsewhere. I walked outside and found myself in the sportcentre I go to often. I walked along, looking for a shower, when I saw a narrow opening between two walls.
When I got through I found myself in a large dark hall. Rubble lay everywhere, concrete walls around me as far as I could see. It was like an abandoned parking garage. I felt scared and exposed (I was just carrying a towel and some washing items), but then I realized I was dreaming. Then something happened I've never experienced before.
I had a rush, like the rush I get from drugs, but it wasn't like any drug I've taken either. The feeling was focused in my forehead. (Third eye? ) At first I fought the feeling because I wanted to stay in the dream, but it felt so good that after a while I decided to let go and ride along with it. Vision faded and I woke up. I wanted to chain dreams but I had to pee so that kinda sucked. Still, that feeling was so good. I wonder what it was.

Has anyone else experienced this kind of rush or wave? Maybe I felt myself returning to the waking world?

How I discover what my dreams are about

In my last lucid dream I made pink sparks between my palms. I was trying to make a white ball of energy...

      Hey there,

I've experienced the transition to waking from dreaming/lucid dream quite often, and it's never been combined with any sort of rush. But oftcourse I'm not you... so it's possible it might be related to that.

More likely though, in my opinion, is that it was just a really interesting dream sensation. The things we can experience in our dreams are often quite staggering, including bodily sensations and what not. I can't say the rush you describe sounds familiar, but I've strange sensations in my dreams enough that I can relate.

Not much more I can offer you then that. Maybe others will have had similiar experiences.

      Hey 134...

Yup, that's common when becoming lucid (at least the first few times). I call it the "surge" - for me it's just a little different. It's like being grabbed by the back of the neck and tossed up in the air, yet not moving at all.

I don't know where it comes from or what causes it. My guess is that it's some sort of dream version of adrenalin. It's a way for you to experience excitement "physically" even though there may not be anything happening to your body in the physical world at the time.

I've had that. And the adrenalin rush is a great way of explaining it. Also had the "grabbing and tossed in the air" feeling, although in reverse. I frequently get the feeling of being grabbed by the back of my t-shirt and being physically pulled back into the dream. Not a false awakening, as reality checks work.

Interesting what we can experience in dreams isn't it?
