Thumbs up How did you realise you were dreaming?

I don't know about you guys but even if my lucid isn't great i have feel good about the fact i realized i was dreaming. Post in ways you become lucid. I'l start it off.

Early hours this morning i woke up, after about 3 hours of sleep. I didn't think it was possible to lucid after this amount of sleep, i thought you needed at least 4 to 6 hours but i read 3 to 5 hours is the best time to try for a lucid (perfect for me because i wake up after 3 hours of sleep every night). Anyway i used my technique which worked it' wonders again. Here's the dream.

I am in a relatives house and i am on the internet (outside) reading on this site that there is a lucid club but has nothing to do with lucid dreaming which i find odd and then my mother says something random to me so i think about theses two events and how strange they are which then triggers my lucidity.

      Post ways you become lucid.

I mean explain the dream and what triggered lucidity like my dream for example. Maybe you misunderstood or maybe you didn't.

I think that i have more scenes like that (which look fake and dreaming) IRL, than in dreams.. But i dont know i think that talking for LD (i am the only person which knows what lucid dreaming is, i know) makes me lucid (one time a friend of mine said "this DCs act strange sometimes" or something like this and i totaly said to myself - he dont know what dc is, i must be dreaming and i had a lucid then .
PS: Cuz of polyphasic sleep shedule, i sleep for 3 hours a night and i can tell you that you have dreams in there, too .(i just cant recall them, cuz my body is to stressed with the sleeping now).

      Ah I gotcha lol.

Okay well with most DILD/DEILD - I am usually in very light REM sleep, and the dreams seem more active. Like usually in deep REM sleep I am more an observer, but in lighter REM sleep, I am more aware, and then something will trigger a realisation that I am dreaming, usually something silly, like I was dreaming I was talking to someone on a sofa once, but I was on holiday at the time, so realised I couldn't be there talking as I was on holiday - so usually things like this.

With more WBTB/WILD - I am not in a dream. But when I 'roll out' of the WILD and into the dream I am 99% of the time in my room, as I just came out from being awake to sleeping, and usually my mind picks up from where it was last active, then I have to get to any dream scene I want because of it, which sometimes can be frustrating.

I didn't understand this, it sounds like your saying you can get any scene you want and it frustrates you .

No sorry - because from a WILD I always become lucid in my bedroom - If I want to be in a particular scene I have to try get there from my room, which if it doesn't work can become frustrating

Have you much experience with WILD? I think Clairity usually end up in her Lounge when she WILDs too - Seems to be a common theme.

No so far i have been too much of a girl to try it because of hearing about people's experiences with it. How much success do you have with WILD?

Well for me pretty much 100% but it varies with different people. There are a lot of techniques out there, you just have to find the right balance and the right one for you to work with

Well i have got the technique but it hasn't yet resulted in lucidity in my house. One way i could gain lucidity in my house i to do a reality check every time i wake up but i am too tired (lazy) to do that.

I usually just get annoyed with the situation of the dream. Like I'll be on some long trek to get away from some murderer or to save the world and I'll just suddenly stop and say "this is really annoying, I'm going to be lucid now".

It's like my subconscious knows (well I guess it does anyway) that I'm dreaming all along and then suddenly decides the dream is boring and then makes me lucid! Only problem is, it's usually right towards the end of the dream so I hardly have time to do anything before I wake-up!

There are two errors lol - Are my posts usually so well constructed and punctuation and spelling of the highest order? I guess so

Sorry was trying to do too much at once and typing and talking is not a good combination, well not for me anyway lol.

I had an interesting way i became lucid last night, i was in a normal dream and for some reason one of my fingers got cut to the pint where its literally hanging by a string and about to fall off, i went to the bathroom and bandaged it back together. I held out my hand to inspect my work and suddenly i realized i was doing an RC and instantly became lucid, but i almost lost ludicity because i started to worry that my finger would fall off when i start having fun
It is impossible to live in the past, difficult to live in the present and a waste to live in the future.
      DILD - 5
      DEILD - 3
      WBTB - 1
      Total - 9

I become lucid in many ways during DILDs : instant lucidity with no reason, or after a random RC (quite rare), or a RC to confirm a doubt (more frequent); my dreamsigns are well defined but I rarely notice them while dreaming.
WILDs in the morning are my prefered method, and 99% of the time they start exactly in my bedroom too. I have to open and jump from my window to get another dream environment.

Recently, an interesting variation happened a few times: "WILD inside a False Awakening" !
      Dec. 2006 - July 2007:
      92 DILDs + 30 WILDs ; 75% too short, 24% decent, ~3 of 2 to 5 minutes
      (I stopped counting after that)

      Releif...

In my first LD which I just recently had I realized I was dreaming when my truck, which I just got (in the real world) had been destroyed (Blown up by the followers of they seven wyrms which had been released by my father on accident and ultimately doomed the world). I was really sad and looking at my truck. I began to talk to my friend who was standing beside me and we were talking about the incident when I said, "It sucks my truck got destroyed...I guess it's a good thing this is a dream...........wait..........OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" That is how my first LD was conceived! Great experience!

      Hi ld master.
I recorded myself saying things like "you are dreaming, you are sleeping in your bed and you are dreaming" onto a CD (it's an hour long in total). I set my alarm for about 3:00am every morning and start the CD (it has a 15 minute silence period at the beginning to help me fall asleep faster). And then I hear myself telling me I'm dreaming while I'm dreaming! It works very very well for me while none of the other methods worked for me (such as WILD, WBTB).

So how do you become lucid, do you hear your recording in your dream which makes you lucid?
