      death during an LD

how many people here have witnessed, experienced or somehow caused their own death during an LD?

there was one dream two weeks ago where i remember taking a bullet for the sole purpose of jolting myself back awake and entering into a much better dream minutes later.

my LDs have all occurred au natrel, and today was my first exposure to any informative material regarding the inducing of LDs.

Yep, I have - as mentioned on your other thread

It was a bunch of gorillas chasing me, and I chose to curl up in a ball and have them rip me apart.
I was a kid and hadn't learnt to deal with nightmares yet.
Nowadays, I would rip them apart

I had a LD when I was little. I was stuck in a mansion with demon monsters chasing after me. After realizing it was a dream, I was still scared and wanted to wake up. Kinda of like what Placebo said applies to me as well: I was a kid and didn't know that I could control me dreams.

I don't think I've ever tried to kill myself in a lucid dream, but i have in my nonlucid ones. I was in the eighteen century and my loved ones were dead. I wanted to drink a poison to kill myself so I could be with them in the next life. So, I ended up finding the poison and drinking it (after a long search and a sword fight with a johnny depp pirate lookalike). After consuming it, I realized how beautiful the world had become and for a second regreted my action, then i thought about how in a short time i would be reunited with the people who love and care about me.

As far as killing yourself on purpose in a lucid dream is concerned, my friend has tried. He wanted to wake up because the dream was boring (didn't know he could change things at the time((he's a natural to)) so he layed down in the middle of the street. A police officer yelled at him and made him get up though.

Wow, what a coincidence! A couple days ago when I was in Holland, my new friend from Isreal told me she had a dream about me (but she couldn't remember it, only it was good).

      Harmless, huh?

i'm definitely trying something like that during my next LD-gone-awry experience.

for what it's worth, during that dream i decided that after the first bullet missed me, the second one would be a direct hit so that i could jolt awake and arrive in a better dream five minutes later.

thanks to placebo i know what to do if i run into a horde of gorillas...
after screaming "damn you! damn you all to hell!" a half-dozen times that is.

      Death

I haven't died in an LD (because I'm still trying to consciously induce one now that I know the proper term for it), but I've died in other dreams. The one I remember the most was when I fell into a frozen river in winter....although I came back from the dead somehow.

Another was when I was blown up because there was a bomb in the wall and I was protecting the little girl who was sitting next to it....Self sacrifice, what can I say? I came back to life when I woke up and finished the dream in my semi-conscious state. I just love happy endings

Well I don't think I have ever died in my dream. I remember a time that I feel while flying and I thought for sure I was going to die. I managed to restart the dream before I hit the ground! Many other people I know have died in my dreams and I have been injured. I am curious as to how I would react if I were to die!

there are two instances that i can recall at present where i have died during a dream. one was the aforementioned, and the other was six years ago in a car crash whose date was two weeks before the dream occurred.

as for finishing dreams in semi-conscious states, i believe i have done this or at the very least attempted it.

conversely, i believe i have never been injured during a dream... the exception being fatal wounds, of course.

during my death experiences, i jolted awake for the mst recent. for the other experience six years ago, i remember floating above the wreckage and acknowledging that i must be dead.

      falling to my death

In one dream I had years ago(not lucid) I fell from way up above the sky, down to the earth. SLowly drifting down, til I reached the clouds, falling...falling...falling...broke through the clouds...saw the buildings really tiny, and slowly...very slowly they got bigger and bigger, until I was falling really fast and plummeting to the ground. And when I hit the ground, I died, but stayed in my dream. Everything was just white. Everywhere. And I thought to myself .oO(Oh my god. I'm dead!)

I haven't died yet, but I have let myself be ripped apart by giant lizards with claws. Unfortunately they kept missing.

      death by banana peel.

This dream actually happened to me at least 2-3 years ago. It was just so damned funny i've never forgotten it. It was just a regular dream though, there was no lucidity... I was walking across a bridge (specifically, the one that connects ottawa to quebec way up here in the north eh?) anyways, as i was walking i slipped on this huge ass banana peel, flew over the hand railings and fell to my death, but awoke on impact...

it was the funniest dream i've ever had...

wow, i haven't been drinking in hull in approximately five years.

      which bridge was this?
portage, eddy (the one that becomes booth street), or the bridge behind the art gallery (turns into st. patrick and murray) ?
