      a semi-lucid?

Okay guys.. I just woke up from a very odd (Lucid?) dream, and I need help to shed some light on it. It's kinda long so please, bear with me

Anyway i'm trying to recall this dream of mine, and most parts of it are very foggy, but I _know_ that somewhere along the line of it I became lucid.

      Here's what I do remember:

I'm at a party held by my brother in his apartment. The place is alot bigger than his actual apartment.
There's alot of people around and i'm just walking around mingling.

Now.. Here's where i'm having trouble putting the pieces together, see - next thing I remember, i'm lucid. I didn't perform a RC at all, because, my brother told me i'm dreaming... And he also told me that he's been aware that it's a dream the whole time.

So first thing I do is I look around, examine the environment. And damn... Everything looks so real! But my vision is kinda foggy so I focus on my hands and start rubbing them together. When I look back up everything's so much clearer...

My brother goes "What's with your hands?" and I say it's a technique I use to increase clarity in the dream. I then realize that, he might be aware that he's dreaming, but he doesn't really know all the techniques out there. (huh..?)

So now i'm just viewing the dream as an actual dream.. I'm afraid to do anything that'll excite me too much that i'll wake up. So i'm just walking around, poking and pushing DC's around (lol) and having a laugh. The fact that everything feels so real blows my mind.
Okay so I get tired of poking DCs and decide i'll try to summon something. I say to myself "Lets start off small..." and I reach out my hand to summon a drink. A second later this waitress comes walking past me holding a tray with a glass of something blueish. I don't even pick it up because i'm annoyed I couldn't summon it properly.

At this point I start going over my LD goals and I remember one of them being to summon Kristin Kreuk (You might know her as Lana Lang from the show Smallville). Why her? Because she's so damn hot!!

So anyway I try summoning her.. I mean reeeally focus my intent to having her show up. But nothing happens. Now here's where it gets weird.. I ask my brother to summon her. I'm saying like "Hey man I can't get this right. I need you to summon Kristin Kreuk for me". and he goes "Alright i'll give it a shot". Next thing I know, i'm holding a Kristin Kreuk action-figure in my hands.

I'm showing it to him and telling him that this wasn't what I had in mind, and I ask him to try again. This time nothing happens. Then my brother says "I can't really control where the stuff I summon ends up. But I think she ended up in the attic." so we make our way to the stairs, and there she is, walking down the stairs funny thing is, he actually summoned 2 of them. One version of Kristin is wearing a long white dress. Very beautiful. But she's very, very snobby. I tell her to come with me but she basicly just ignores me. Then my brother goes "Back off dude, she's mine". Now the other Kristin is wearing casual clothing, and she looks like she hasn't showered for a week.. She also seems a bit.. Retarded. And when I try to talk to her all she does is stand around giggling

So since I can't have a decent conversation with her I just proceed to make out with her instead. Unfortunately her teeth kind of started going through her lips, which started to freak me out a bit. Well, it certainly wasn't sexy.

From that point the dream suddenly shifts, and i'm at a hospital. There's a bunch of doctors standing around a woman about to deliver a baby. As I walk closer to them I notice the woman being Kristin Kreuk. I go "Christ I hope that's not mine!" And exit the room. Obviously i've lost awareness here.

As I walk down the hospital hallway I notice my brother sitting in a room to my left, so I go inside. He's sitting by this old desk, and he looks like he's sleeping. I'm trying to wake him up, but when I do, he just vanish. I then think to myself "Ah crap. I woke him from his LD. He's gonna be so pissed". I then started to feel the dream fading. And the next thing I know, i'm wide awake with my eyes open.

What I'm trying to understand is this; I felt that I was really aware at many points of the dream. But at the same time, I seemed to accept the fact that I believed my brother was actually dreaming with me. So what does that mean? Was I "semi-lucid" or something? Because I know there was lucidity in there!

      Hey there,

You will find that lucid is rarely an all or nothing too. That's all fine and well in theory, but in the actual experience of it things get a lot more complicated. There's many degrees of lucidity, for one, and there's many different aspects of a dream where you can gain lucidity, without it necessarily affecting other aspects.

What does that mean? It means you can be completely aware that you're dreaming about one thing, and be completely unaware about something else. It means you can have some idea that you're dreaming, but not understand the implications of it.

In your case, like you said, there were definate moments of lucidity in it (actually, personally speaking I'm leaning more and more towards abandoning the term lucidity as a whole, and speaking about "increased dreamawareness."). Especially remembering your dreamgoals testifies to a high degree of awareness, because it requires you to actively and consciously think about what it is you're going to do next.

And btw, sounds like a really interesting dream!

      Thanks for the input

Yeah I suppose I've been looking at the whole idea of lucid dreaming in a bit too much black and white. I didn't think my mind could play such tricks on me once I had the realization that I was dreaming, but there it is.

All in all, even though the dream itself was pretty mundane And I didn't do anything spectacular, it was a fantastic experience. Unlike anything i've ever experienced. I just can't wait to go back to sleep and start practising some induction techniques
