Is it lucid because the dream repeats or because it is based on a past event

Hi, I just turned fourty but in the last year or so, I have had the same dream occuring about 3 or 4 times. About once every few months. I need to give you a little background on this. When I was about 11 or 12 in school (an all boys school) school ground brawls were popular. Especially in the town where I went to school, and although I am not a trouble maker, I got dragged into a few, so you could say I had my share too Although we were all only kids, the brawls/fights could be serious enough But that was a long time ago, and now many years later I start to have dreams about one of the school fights that I was in. Everything in the dream is so realistic and exactly like how it was on the day Lately when I dream about this, I begin to realise during the dream, that this is only a dream, but based on a real past event. So I know that I am having a lucid dream! But my question is..... did my dream become lucid because I have had the same dream about 3 or 4 times, and my mind has got used to this and tells me it is lucid, or is my dream lucid because it is based on a true past event and my mind senses this and then knows that it is a lucid dream. Also any idea why after so many years it would start to come back now ? Thanks Horse

Hey! Glad you finally posted! A lucid dream is simply being aware that you're dreaming. That's all. You probably become lucid because you've had the dream before, and your mind picks up on it. I'm not so sure about the true-event making it lucid. Also, you might want to ask people from the Dream Interpretation/Nightmares and Reccuring dreams forums for information why you're having dreams of this stuff. Hope this helps!
