I have these strange dreams alongside my lucid ones where i can control myself but not my surroundings, its like my brain is throwing me into life threatening situations just to bully me. Anyway i'll just describe the one which was an experience in itself. I was somehow in a warzone shooting and being shot at hiding behind a wall when a grenade comes over and lands on my head. No matter how much i try it wont come off, then it explodes and everything went black and it was like that until i woke up. Has anyone here ever died in their dream or has weird (theres weirder ones) dreams like mine?

I've killed poeple, in a war dream, but onyl with nades..shooting never did anything. Also in my dream i thought I was dying but then i stood up.

I've died a couple times in my dreams. It causes the dream to fade to black like it does for you, however, rather than waking up, I "respawn" back in the dream after a few seconds.

I have a lot of dreams about dieing. A bunch of nuclear explosions, falling for huge heights and stuff.. usually the dream ends as I die, but in a recent one I was struggling with a guy, we both had guns and I put the clip in and held it to his head, he held his to my head and we both shot. I saw all the blood and brains and stuff splattered on the ground, and I was a ghost. I went around to my family members screaming at the top of my lungs trying to make them hear me, and my dad seemed to notice for a second, but then didn't. They are pretty crazy, but I don't think they are too uncommon or anything.

I have had two of those types of dreams. The first one was a war one. I was in what seemed to be a heavy firefight in a small town somewhere in the Middle East. I was hit many times by gun fire and fell in the middle a dirt road. I couldn't get up I just laid there and prepared for death. My vision slowly got darker and darker my body began to have quick twitches. I'm not sure what happene after that, probly woke up. My second one was wierd. I felt like I was partially awake, I was laying in bed and suddenly my whole body felt like it has be dunked into icy cold water, it only lasted a second, but right after that my forehead started to violently twitch right above the middle of my eyebrows. It felt like someone was shaking it, and only that part was twitching. It happened once more, that cold feeling and twitching then I sat up and it stopped.

Yeah, they say you can never actually die in dreams, but it happens sometimes. I recall one I had a while ago where I was (surpise surprise) in a war in the middle east and I jumped out from behind a rock to shoot a terrorist. He unloaded a machine gun into me and I felt the bullets tear through. Suddenly there was an odd rumbling sound and I started to float away from my body, which I saw lying beneath me in the bloodied sand. Then there was a time where I fell from a high cliff. I usually wake up just before hitting the ground, but this one time I actually crashed and I thought "I'm dying" before immediately waking up.

i hate it when you die right after you fall asleep and you wake up again.i did that about four times in a row one night.i kept falling off stuff or tripping and when i hit the ground i would flinch and wake up.

Like going to sleep, just like I do here..

Sad part is, I'm able to swim but the murderer was my sister, she killed me at the beach. Remembered it clearly =( but that was years ago, I guess she's not that dangerous right now since she's able to think rationally at her age. so don't worry =) I've died in my dreams before. live together die alone right? well, that only applies to reality =D in dreams, I'm sure there are many dreamers out there who will die with you on the battlefield xD they just don't remember it. And why are you on a battlefield? =D unless you are a soldier =/ which I doubt. I'll most probably take advantage of that, that's a huge dreamsign being on a battlefield. I would summon all kinda weapons, and blasts off everyone, comrades or enemies, they'll all die just like that. Rip apart into a million pieces. And then it'll rain blood =) with a new kinda rainbow. I die frequently in dreams, I've got used to it now, sometimes dream carries on with me as onlooker but no longer in it, other times I can heal myself. Some times I've made myself die to get out of a LD I was fast losing control of! If you think you are going to die again try taking a deep breath in your dream and building a "force field" around you for protection or focus completely on healing yourself, you may wake yourself up the first few times but it works!

I've had a bunch of those dreams where I die, though I don't recall ever fading out of the dream. More like either respawning, or just seeing my dead body in a 3rd person viewpoint, until I eventually gain control of this "position", and I kinda forget about my dead body, and just get a new one.

Wow, my dreams are always quite peaceful/fun. Maybe you feel your life doesn't have enough excitement so your brain is providing it to you in your dreams.

i died once in a non-lucid dream. i was flying in a plane and it hit a mountain. i flew through the windshield and everything went black. i was like...is this death? i still had my thoughts and my "dream conciousness" but no sight or body. i remember thinking that either there is going to be a heaven or i just die and am not able to think anymore. however, i was stuck in the middle. it was like purgatory (spelling?) or something. i said to my friend who also died in the crash, "this really sucks." he just said, "yeah." the blackness lasted about 2 straight minutes. then i woke up. it was SO boring.

I've died a few times in lucid and non-lucid dreams. The first time was semi-lucid, I was working in some sort of fast food place and my boss took me out back and made me kneel down. He was going to shoot me in the back of the head, and I just laughed at him. He pulled the trigger, and then there were a few seconds of darkness before I woke up.

It looks like, thanks to movies and video games, fading to black has become part of our collective "dying" schema . I guess we don't have a lot of other experiences to inform that scema, so it does make sense.

when i was about i guess 14-15- 16 that age i use to die all the time... LIKE ALL THE TIME! in different was on one of my dreams i went to my own funrual as a ghost and saw my body at the open casket wake being held... it was crazy

I've had a bunch of those dreams where I die, though I don't recall ever fading out of the dream. Man respawning is getting ever so common now since video games provided the idea too.But still most people just stay like the old style "screen goes black" thing and then waking up. i take respawning after death in a lucid dream as a sign you are ok with the dream and appreciate death.
