      First attempt at wild

I first heard of wilding from this board, and for no particular reason I decided to try it out last night. I've obtained lucidity many times but they were all dream initiated. This is the first time I tried any kind of technique.

I was laying in bed counting to 100 and when I hit about 60 I could feel a pretty intense tingling in my legs. Also my counting had slowed down to my breathing and I was messing up a lot (68...69....50...51....52 and so on), but I didn't let it bother me, I kept trying to reach 100. Soon after the tingling started it began spreading throughout my body and I THINK I experienced sleep paralysis.

I've never had SP before but when the tingling spread through my body I could feel myself slipping into the bed. I started to feel uncomfortable and went to reposition myself slightly and realized I was having difficulty moving. I couldn't move my limbs and had to roll over to snap out of it.

The thing is I don't know if I was dreaming or not already because I hit SP surprisingly fast, and I don't remember falling to sleep afterwards. I think I may just stick to my original technique of hitting lucidity.... to just realize I'm dreaming.

From the sound of it, yes, you indeed hit SP. But it's hard to distinguish between false SP and actual SP, as it differs for everyone. Generally, however, it is associated with the "tingly" feeling.

I recommend that you continue attempting to WILD. It is not harmful or anything, and the payoff is well worth it. Feel free to ask me, or anybody else if you have any questions about WILD'ing, and be sure to check out the tutorials section.

You're so lucky you can actually get into it that fast. The trick is to know no harm will come to you and stay in that state. If it actually feels uncomforable or painful, that's probably a different matter and I don't know if it's alright to carry on. Someone more experienced should probably answer that.
