Can a blind person have a lucid dream?

if someone wasn't blind their entire life, would it be possible for them to "see" in their dreams? what about if they WERE blind their entire lives? how would they see?

I guess it would be just like normal except for vision...if they've been living their whole life without vision, the dream would be like how their life feels like.. But idk I'm not blind

I can't speak for all blind people, but I talked to a guy who was blind most of his life and he said he could see fine in his dreams. Is that what you wanted to know? -M Gordon

I am guessing that alot of their dreams are lucid, seeing as they know that they are dreaming if they can see.

People who have been blind their whole lives would have dreams just like us except without vision. They would hear and feel things like they do in waking life. If people had vision for atleast a couple yeas or so they may have vision dreams and sometimes just hearing a feeling. (i read an article about this before) but for lucid dreams im no to sure but their probably able to.

One doesn't have anything to do with the other. There's no reason that lucid dream frequency would be affected by blindness.

Just think about it.. If a person has always been blind they have no visual memory. Which leaves your imagination to kick in. And what is the limitation of a "Humans" imagination... i don't think there is a limit

I suppose if someone had been blind due to eye maufunction, and not due to brain damage, since birth, then they would probably see some sort of visuals, mabye colors and pulses that correspond to what they hear or feel. Perhaps a blind person who could LD pretty well would be able to use their memory of how a couch, say, is shaped, and generate a reasonably accurate visual of a couch. Over time, a blind person may be able to experience dreams similar to those of sighted people.

If I was someone that lost their vision but could see in dreams, I would totally want to spend half my life dreaming! And then attempting to blindly draw my dreams.

From what I've read its like Kole said. People born blind are also blind in their dreams.

If someone used to be able to see but was blind, there would appear to be no reason why they couldn't see in their dreams (as they know what it's like to see). It's like colourblindness. If someone has never seen what most people would call red, then how would they be able to imagine it in the first place? Try imagining a colour you've never seen; it's impossible!

From what I've read from articles that are on this topic of is a blind person can see in their dream/have dreams as well; even if they have not have had sight their entire life, what they dream of is what their idea of what the objects are and look like. I guess for an example, if they haven't seen their entire life and they dreamt they were in a forset, their idea of what a forest is and what a tree looks like is depicted by them. I don't believe thinking of a colour you've never seen is impossible.. as I said,.it's your idea/belief of what the colour looks like ( even though you've never seen it before..you would be able to imagine it..but being correct is the issue. Thats my two cents worth.

Actually it depends on the cause of the blindness. If the person was born without eyes, then they could maybe visualize and have visuals in dreams. But if they were born with a malfunctioning occipital lobe, there's no chance. But the question was, can a blind person have dreams and lucid dreams, in particular. There is no reason that a blind person could not have dreams, lucid or not, blind from birth or not.

I agree. I forgot that issue on a lucid dream. I would say yes.. as becoming lucid has nothing really to do if you can see in waking life or not.

Well I have read so much about people seeing colors they've never seen in life in their lucids... makes you wonder if the blind can see all the colors in their dreams even if they've never actually experienced color? Fat chance of a blind person answering this. I don't know anyone who was born blind. The only blind person I know died at the age of 90 6 years after losing her vision. So yea. I bet that's a kick in the balls, though, having to wake up and realize you can't see again

You and I, we see a banana, but we can visualize it as this . How do the blind do that? They see darkness, and can visualize it as darkness. Imagination is limited as long as their is nothing to compare it to. Although, I would think that blind people wouldn't be missing out on too much, because they can't compare their dreams to others with vision, therefore its just as good as any other dream because of what they're used to. If that makes any sense... sorry was over in the beyond dreaming forum, some of that stuff is really unbelievable.

And what is the limitation of a "Humans" imagination... i don't think there is a limit I think your imagination does have a limit tho. Imo you can only imagine stuff you already experienced. Everything you imagine is a combination of previous experiences... the recombining is infinite and limitless, but the elements are not. (try to come up with something completely new, and you will find out that it is ALWAYS based on something existing.) So I'm guessing people who are born blind can not see in their dreams at all.. Anyway, they still can have dreams in sound and feelings, they live their life that way anyway, so I'm guessing their lucid dreams will just be without the visuals.
