      Great Success! New time record!

This morning I had my new longest 100% lucid dream, and it lasted a whopping 30 seconds, perhaps longer! Ok, look, it's impressive for me.

It was what I would call a WILD-catalyzed DILD. You know the type. It's when you fail miserably at a WILD but then get a really easy DILD because dreaming is "on your mind" or whatever. I had a false awakening and I immediately knew I was dreaming without a RC. I then walked around my room a little bit, and decided it would be interesting to see if I could punch through an outer wall of my house. I punched the wall a few times and made only a dent, not a hole. I noticed that my real life arm twitched every time I punched, which was interesting. Anyway, after failing to punch through the wall, I tried to summon a dream guide. I said out loud, "Can I get a dream gu--" and then I woke up.

Next time I'm going to forgo the supernatural stuff and just see if I can walk around for a few minutes without waking up. I may also try a mirror portal, but we'll see.

Greats! That's what happened to me in the beginning as well. I would always wake up almost immediately after becoming lucid. It gets easier

haha "great success" damn I was expecting a Borat related dream
A dream is the experience of envisioned images, sounds, or other sensations during sleep. It occurs in humans, most mammals, and some birds. [1] The events of dreams are often impossible or unlikely to occur in physical reality, and are usually outside the control of the dreamer. The exception is lucid dreaming, in which dreamers realize that they are dreaming, and are sometimes capable of changing their oneiric reality and controlling various aspects of the dream, in which the suspension of disbelief is often broken.[2]
      -Wikipedia

All dreams are in a sense dreams of convenience, they help to prolong sleep instead of waking up. Dreams are the guardians of sleep and not its disturbers.
      -Freud

Life is a constant interplay of energies. The saying, "We are all connected." goes far deaper than most realize. Matter and energy can not be destroyed, only transformed/ and or transmuted. What you have experienced in the dream state, which I consider a higher state of conscienceness, is a stronger attunement to and awareness of that interplay of energies.

I lasted about 20 Seconds on my first LD. The reason was because i mostly spent my time looking at the sky ( they say this is very easy according to Wiki Books) so then i attempted to fly. I closed my eyes and i think i tried but couldnt. I woke up then.

      Congrats my friend!

Mirrors are (supposedly) often a good way to transport your dream self from one dream location to another. You just 'see' where you want to go in the mirror and then you step through it. I've never done it myself but Stephen LaBerge has studied it. The following is a very interesting experiment. Long read, but well worth it:

      UPDATE:

I would have added this to the OP, but I can't seem to figure out how to edit posts, so I'm putting it here.

My WILD and DEILD techniques continue to improve, and this morning, just about an hour ago, I had another breakthrough. I was able to use DEILD (which is just a variation of WILD) to chain together a string of lucids that lasted a total of at least 20 minutes of real time, but possibly longer. The longest dream in the chain lasted about a minute. Still not great, but it gave me a chance to practice entry and stabilization techniques.

And now I will give a brief overview of what worked and what didn't work for me. This may help others who are at the same stage in their training.

      WHAT WORKED:

      - entry via 'placement' in a room. The best entry technique for me has always been to place myself standing in a small-ish room that is well known and perhaps imagine myself walking around touching things. This technique works particularly well when you're in full vibrations entering SP.

      - not moving too fast! My dreams lasted longer when I didn't try to run around. However, in one dream I placed myself in a moving car on a highway and it was quite stable. So rapid body movement makes the dream less stable, but movement in general may not.

      - deep breaths. These really helped stabilize the dreams because they reduce 'excitement'.

      - take it in. Have a good look around you and don't focus on one object for very long. Walking around helps, if you don't walk too fast.

-chaining. Works like a charm. I was able to get 10+ re-entries in quick succession.

      WHAT DIDN'T WORK:

      - 'roll out of bed'. I've never gotten this damn entry technique to work and this morning was no different. The idea of starting a dream from your bed is intellectually pleasing, but in practice it's a recipe for disaster. On several occasions I was able to open my dream eyes and move around in my dream bed, but there's one big problem: I'm starting lying down. Because I'm lying down, it takes me a few seconds to get up and start walking around, but the dreams always end before I can even do that.

      - yelling "increase lucidity!", "clarity now!", or anything else you've heard. May work in a more stable dream, but in a dream only a few seconds old it doesn't. For me, trying to yell anything always resulted in a swift end to my dream.

      - moving too fast (on foot). This seems to overload your senses. Maybe a more stable dream can take it, but a dream a few seconds old will not.
