      False awakenings

      Gah! I'm a dumbass, in the last year of LDing i somehow forgot about inducing FA's and the benefits of having them....

      think about this, if you FA once after every LD you have (there's a way to induce FA's) then you double your LDs.... this may be old news for people who have read Stephen laberges books but i'm just going to go over it for all the new LDrs of the forum

      to induce a FA (false awakening)

      its pretty simple actually, as your dreaming in an LD and you feel it slipping away fall backwards, (or spin) whichever you feel would cause more feeling and sensation... anyway keep in mind that you will likely still be dreaming when you "wake up" so do reality checks, last night i started back at inducing FA's and had 4 LDs in a row (compared to the usual one) before ever waking up.... which isn't (wasn't) unusual for me to have at least 2 FA's in a row after the initial LD, this means triple the dreams
      ~~~~~~~~~~~~
      again this was for people that are new to LDing, its pretty common to spin/ fall backwards to save an LD but often we say to save it and not to induce an FA, so the LDr is absorbed into the FA thinking he/ she has awakened
      I'm amazed that i forgot about the benefits of FAs.... its really sad iv been not getting double the LDs (or more) than i normally do a night,
      anyway just a thought
      PS/ edit: for those of you that don't know, FA's usually START OFF as vivid as life, unlike most other LDs, which means you start off the FA clear minded with it as vivid as life (with me usually about 90% of FAs are like this)
      well diffierent people classify FA's differently, I guess you could say its one LD but the transition from wherever you were to your room usually just feels like another dream, and also usually my FA's often last longer than the LD before them did, so I just classify them as whole new dreams (but thats just me)
      hmm, i'm going to try falling backwards when the dream starts slipping, while telling myself i'll FA. spinning doesn't seem to do anything for me.
      and i agree, almost every FA i have is very realistic...i'd almost prefer to start every lucid that way...
      well a slight update....
      last night i had an LD that just cut off, no warning it just imploded in like a scond (thus i couldnt fall backwards or spin) I thought all was lost as i began to feel my body but i quickly tensed my back muscles (like i was trying to stretch it) and entered an FA...
      In other words dont not try to save your LD even when its lost, always make some attemped at falling/ spinning you may be suprised at what you get (I was)
      I actually slipped in my dream non-intentionally which actually woke me up . but maybe it was because it was un intentional. i dont lucid enough to be able tp say though
      Dreaming is forgetting the basis of reality, remembering it is to be lucid.
      That's awesome, i actually have used the spinning technique when my dream starts to fade and wound up going completely into another dream. Just out of curiosity, what is your preferred lucid induction method? (like a WILD or DILD)
