Wakata’s Deep Lucid Tasks of the Month

Wakata’s Deep Lucid Tasks of the Month

This thread is going to contain unofficial monthly lucid tasks. It will be similar to the official one in that I will post a new task sometime each month, and anyone who wants to can try and complete it.

These tasks are special, though. They will all be aimed at either increasing your lucid potential, discovering new aspects of lucid dreaming, discovering more about the way that the human mind functions, or something similar.

Each task will be classified as one of the following: Lucid Development, Lucid Exploration, Experimental, or Pushing the Boundaries.

      Lucid Development

These tasks will take established lucid skills that many people do not know about or do not use regularly, and will get you to apply them in various ways. Basically, these tasks aim to up your lucid repertoire.

      Lucid Exploration

These tasks will be unique things that I think of to do in a lucid dream. More closely resembling the official “Lucid Tasks” than any of the other categories, these are just for fun. The only “non-deep” category.

      Experimental

These tasks will aim to discover more about the functioning of the human mind and the subconscious.

      Pushing the Boundaries

I’ll throw in one of these every once in a while. These tasks will aim to research some of the “tamer” Beyond Dreaming topics that are directly related to lucid dreaming. These include dream guides, Dreamland, etc. I will be very interested to see the outcomes of these tasks.

      ...

I will assign one task a month, sometime during the month (I will try to assign it in the earlier half of the month). If you complete a task, post the dream you had that contained your completion of the task. Also post any comments or notes that you have regarding the task or your experience.

Many of the tasks will not be a straightforward, “complete the task and post the dream.” Instead, they will be, “do a certain thing in your dream, and then post the results you get (along with the dream that you did it in).”

Anyone who completes the current task can have the wondrous honor of gloating about their completion of it in their sig!

Unless someone volunteers to make a banner for each task that will be PM’d to each of the people who complete it for display in their sig (under a spoiler tag, perhaps).

      That would be really cool.

So yeah, that’s basically it. Welcome to Wakata’s Deep Tasks.

See below for Task No. 1!

      Task # 1

      Lucid Development

Make a creation room. This is a rather advanced lucid skill, but anyone can do it if they try. Basically, blank out everything in your dream universe (except yourself, of course). Make it like a fresh sheet of paper. There is absolute… nothingness. This frees you from the distractions of the dream universe, with all of its scenery, DCs, and other complications, and allows you to make stuff without having anything break your concentration or reduce your lucidity. That is why it’s called a creation room, because the freedom from distractions and the absolute blankness open up your imagination and allow you to create anything that you feel like. A kickass costume? You got it. A massive-mecha-suit-with-green-laser-beams? Just say the word.

And then you can create scenery and a universe once again, and utilize your creations.

      Have fun with this one!

If I can suggest something, I think you should do one under every section for every month. Maybe have people in charge of a different one every month (I'd be willing)

I was thinking the same exact thing as Oniman actually. This is a good idea though!

So, how about it? Could you assign me one of the tasks for every month? Please?

Hmm... okay. You get Lucid Exploration, the fun one!

oniman is officially in charge of Lucid Exploration!

And I'll get around to assiging the others to other people...

Here's how we'll do it, then. Every month, each person in charge of a section will post a task that is applicable in that section.

Here is the format to followin posting a task (with spaces in the codes):

Task # (whatever number task it is. All of the tasks for each month will share the same task number, so there will be 4 tasks for each month, one for each section, all with the same number)
      (blank space)
[ b][color= (cyan for Lucid Exploration, red for Lucid Development, blue for Experimental, and purple for Pushing the Boundaries)]Name of category that task falls under[/ color][/b ]
      (blank space)
Description of task. It doesn't have to be a rigorous, formal description. Talk "normal,"if you know what I mean. There'sno format you have to adhere to (Ex: "The "Lucid Development" Task for the Month of "August" is to "fly on a unicorn.")

      ...

And that's it. That's the format for posted Tasks. Sorry if any ofit doesn't make sense to you, I tried. Let me know if you need clarification.

Btw,oniman... I'll agree to your idea... but the problem is, I don't know if the people I assign to each category will capture what I envisioned for each category, you know? They may post a task where I'm like, "Whoa, whoa, whoa... what? That is not what I had in mind for 'Experimental' tasks. I'm not sure if you really understand what the category entails."

We'll have to solve that issue before I assign the other tasks to people.I want to keepone (haven't decided which yet) for myself, and I trust that you can handle Lucid Exploration, but the others I'm not sure about assigning until it's clear that the people I assign them to really understand the meaning and the vision behind the category, and can post tasks that really fit into what I intended for the category to be.

this is a good idea. i'm mostly likely not quite skilled enough at lucid dreaming to really complete any of the tasks but i am getting better fast! i will check back just to see what they are though, in the mean time.

THE LUCID EXPLORATION TASK OF THE MONTH FOR JUNE

I decided to start a bit early, so here it is. I'm going to have a task set every month, instead of one singular task like the others. There were two reasons for this.

      1) The others are set upon a harder dreaming level. That's why they're called Deep Lucid tasks. For the most part, they require constant lucids, a high skill in dream control, and heavy improvisation. Not everybody has any (or even 1) of these three skills, so I'm willing to accommodate to everybody.

      2) I couldn't settle for just one

The beginner task basically doesn't involve much, a slight manipulation of the dream scape. The intermediate task requires you to have at least one good skill (DC control, teleportation, summoning objects, etc.). The expert task requires you to have multiple skills in dream control, and for the most part, is something to be coveted, or at least strived for, if you want to increase your lucid skills and show them off to all these anonymous people on the web.

      Anyways, back to:

THE LUCID EXPLORATION TASK OF THE MONTH FOR JUNE
      Task Set #1

      Task #1
Beginner/ low level: Throw/kick/hit any kind of ball a really long distance. May I suggest over a mountain?

      Task #2
Intermediate (had a few lucid dreams that you could control): Teleport some food or drink of your choice and eat/drink it. Can you taste it? As an optional, somewhat harder bonus, try making it change in taste.

      Task #3
Expert: Have a DC pull out a gun and fire it at you when you are ready. Slow down the time (or at least the bullet) and catch it. If you want more challenge, change the scene to a firing range first. If you really want to try something, make it an automatic, and pull the bullets out of the air one by one.

By the way, Wakata, since this is your thread, I will take it back down to one task a month if you want, but I'd prefer to do it this way. Just let me know.

I'll get straight to work with some of these, i am hoping it will help me on my lucid journey.

Also, if your open to suggestions for new tasks then I have loads aha

So, if I can ask, what about it do you like about this over the official task of the month thread?

This thread allows the person to progress their control over lucid dreams. Its more of a training task rather than something fun to do.
These task are well thought out so that someone can develop their skills in the dream world.

I think this forum is great for attaining lucidity, but I don't think there is enough information on how to progress once you have attained it.

The official task of the month is more about having fun in your dreams and the tasks seem really random. Whereas this one seems to be about unlocking your potential

Can I have Experimental? You can check my post history, a few of us have been working on ideas just like this.

And I agree, these are better than the task of the month =) (no offense to anyone)

      Yes, you can.

      It's yours.

But is anyone going to actually do any of the tasks posted so far instead of just commenting?!

      EDIT: Buckethead, my sincere thanks.

Yes, that's fine. But you didn't follow the task post format that I posted!

I like the concept, but do they have to be so specific?
It's fun getting creative, that's why I like the normal TOTMs.
Very general is always nice, then a lot more people can complete them with all of the flexibility they have.

Sorry, Wakata, I tried to follow the format, but it was hard to read with all the BBCode stuck in there.... Anyways, I can't edit it, but can a moderator edit it for me? I think I've passed the time limit to edit my post. Failing that, I could always post another one, though that could count as spam. Let me know.

Sorry, I didn't mean make a new thread, I meant make a new post. I could either just copy/paste the old post into a new one and make the corrections in a new post. If you don't want me to do that, I'll PM you the new version. Let me know.

Okay, Wakata, I had No-Name update it and here shortly it should be to specifications. I'll edit this when it is, and let me know if it's acceptable then. Now that I know the specifications, I should be able to do it right next month.

Last night I had a dream and asked the DC "Is there anything you would like me to know?" He replied with a topic that I had never heard before on an educational level that I have yet to attain. I was considering his kind of openness as a gateway to the universal conscienceness.

Experimental Task of the Month: To ask a DC what he/she would like to tell us, being completely open to what they have to say and then reporting it back on this forum.

This task is for all experience levels.

Alright, this thread is getting kind of wacky and clogged with format issues, variations in this or that, comments that could be removed, etc. (don't feel bad, oniman, by no means is it all you, I'm looking at everybody here )

So I will officially, concretely, post the first Task Set for this month (June). In the future, this is how it will always be. The people in charge of each task will submit their task to me, via PM (so as to not clog up the thread ), and I will post all of them collectively in one post, perhaps simplified and reduced in wording, but with the intent preserved.

Here is your first Task Set, for the month of June!

      -------------------------------------------------------------------------------

      Task Set # 1 - June

      Lucid Developmentby Wakata -

Make a creation room and experiment with it (normally I would elaborate more, but seeing as I thoroughly explained creation rooms in my original post of the task above, you can just refer to that)

      Lucid Exploration by oniman7 -

Beginner - Throw/kick/hit any kind of ball a really long distance

Intermediate - Teleport some food or drink of your choice and eat/drink it, optionally make it change in taste

Advanced - Have a DC fire a gun at you, slow down time (or at least the bullet) and catch the bulllet, optionally scene-change to a firing range first or make the gun a machine gun and pluck the bullets out of the air one by one

      Experimental by tranquilitybytrey -

Ask a DC what he/she would like to tell you, being completely open to what they have to say, and then reporting it back here in your post

Pushing the Boundaries by Wakata (for now) -

Find your dream guide (a recurring DC who seems to always be aware that it is a dream and that you are dreaming, they have distinctive personalities and are thought by some to be a manifestation of your subconscious as a recurring DC), or at least attempt to. Post what happens, your efforts, your accomplishments, anything interesting, etc.

(Please note that there will not always be a Pushing the Boundaries task in every month's task set. Also note that I'm willing to assign this one to someone, but they must be an active, but not totally nuts, BDer. Other members wouldn't get it as well)
      --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

      im back bitches

(Very outdated... I'll start a new one when I get some free time)

      Project Pandora [B]
~ I'll give this some attention, maybe get it going again some time in the future

I had a lucid last night! I asked what a random DC had to say, and she handed me a note. She read it out loud in a southern accent while I read along. It was divided into 3 days.
"What do you have to say to the members of DreamViews"

      Friday:
"Tell all the good folks at DreamViews I said hi to them, and they boyfriends, and their girlfriends, and their robots, and their aliens"

      Saturday:
"Now I watch the 16:00 peak instead of the 14:00 peak"

      Sunday:
"You know, they still do show the 14:00 peak"
