I just had my first WILD-like experience. I wouldn't say I stayed conscious all the way into sleep (I didn't get the vibrations or HI), but I was conscious enough that when a dream started coming together, I knew what was happening and let it firm up into an LD. I also "set up" the dream by laying down in the dream and going to sleep. I'd never done it before, but it was cool--I lay down on my back, closed my eyes, and almost immediately felt my forehead pressing against a hard, cool surface. I let my forehead slide along the surface (very vivid sensation), then opened my eyes and sat up at a desk in an empty, dark schoolroom, much more solid and vivid than my previous environment. |

If you have a sense of caring for others, you will manifest a kind of inner strength in spite of your own difficulties and problems. With this strength, your own problems will seem less significant and bothersome to you. By going beyond your own problems and taking care of others, you gain inner strength, self-confidence, courage, and a greater sense of calm.Dalai Lama

I guess I did have some hypnagogic imagery--formless stimuli that fluttered between being a few different things, then sort of knit together into a dream environment. |
