      First Lucid Dream

Yeah I found out about Lucid dreams two nights ago and I had one the night after I learned about them. It was pretty sweet, I read a brief tutorial on them and then I just followed some stepps.

I found myself in the art room at my school dipping a paintbrush into one of the many yogurt cups that we use to hold paint water. As I dipped my brush in I saw my hand holding the brush and noticed that it didn't have any scar on the back of it. This was one of the reality tests suggested in the tutorial (looking at your hands) and I realized I was dreaming. I got realy excited and started to feel the world slip away, so I took several deep breaths and concentrated on relaxing. I then noticed the painting that I was painting. It was a strange modern art painting that I didn't realy like. This was when I attempted dream control. I just looked at the painting that I didn't like and I thought of one that I did, and the painting shifted before my eyes into one of Degas' dancers. Someone in the art room said that it was cool how I did that, his name is Nick but I hardly know him. I then looked at everyone else in the room who didn't notice and with one wave of my hand I said "away" and they all sort of shimmered and dissapeared. I thought about a set of stairs comming decending down through the floor of the room. I then went down the stairs to a dirt road in the middle of a grassy field. Then the stairs just liffted up into the sky and I turned around and this kid Nick was standing behind me. I then walked down the path and ended up in this darkness that I then sort of coaleced into this ornate victorian room and I was sitting on this large set of marble stairs. It was pretty cool to have so much control over my suroundings. Is it unusual to have lucid dreams this rapidly and have such vivid memories with that control? It was realy sweet, I will try again tonight.

      Yep - LDs are great.
If you ever run out of ideas (unlikely) - the have a look through the sticky thread in the newbie zone called 'Reasons to Lucid Dream'
It also has a link to the Experience Checklist, which is interesting to scan through

Congrats! That's awesome that you managed to LD so quickly after finding out about them. There are some of us *coughmecough* who are still working on getting them. I've had 5 since July and they don't come regularly. It seems like with this experience, you shouldn't have much trouble continuing on and having them more often.

      Welcome to DV mate!

I too had an LD experience right after reading this very site for the first time! It's pretty crazy that all that is needed to spark off an LD is to simply learn about it. But mine lasted for a few seconds and the lucidity level was pretty low. Well done on the RC (Reality Check - you've gotta get used to the acronyms here!), I've never really managed to grasp that one. Although I think the lesson there is: anything you want to do in an LD you simply have to DRUM into your head until you don't need much to remember it! Read my post in Lucid Experiences on Where's my Logic? It's all about how we loose control of our logic and memory in dreams and how we can bypass this by repeating what we want to remember until we CAN'T forget.

I'm currently working on remembering to say "What did I want to remember to do in an LD?" .. .. maybe that's all I'll need??!!

Anyway, keep it up and enjoy, but don't expect too much too soon. Having said that I've had about 6 since joining a month ago, and had about 7 in one night 2 nights ago (although, unlike OTHERS *not trying to hint at anyone in particular!!* I count that as ONE LD!!

A lot of the time people have LDs after hearing about them for the first time, or after reading about them for the first time in a while. Dont be surprised if you dont have any for a while still. But good job nonetheless!
All I know is that i don't know nothing.
