      Question Scariest dream I ever had. Explanation, anyone?

      Hello, this is my first time posting. =]
      I had the freakiest dream I've ever had a couple days ago and decided to post it here to see if anyone has any feedback or anything.
      I don't remember it very well, my dreams have been fuzzy lately. Which is very frustrating for me, because I used to have very vivid, lucid dreams that I could easily control.
      Anyway..

      First thing I remember is getting up and walking over to my parents' house to use the bathroom (I live next door to them, my house is under construction, so I'm over here a lot). My little sister (who, in actuality, was away visiting friends in Virginia) walked in and I asked her what she was doing home early. She told me that her and the friend she was staying with had just flown back. I asked her how they got home from the airport and she told me "Heather had a car waiting at the airport". I got the impression they were secretly rich and had been keeping things from me and was furious. Then, I tried to attack her. As hard as I tried to hurt her, she just smiled. Then, I realized she didn't look like her normal self, she looked evil. And nothing I did was hurting her, which was making me even angrier, so I left.
      I assume I walked back over to my house and went back to bed because the next thing I remember in the dream is "waking up" in my room. All of the sudden, the dream was just extremely clear and real feeling, and I actually thought I was really awake for a minute. I can't remember which came first, hearing the voices or trying to get up, but I absolutely COULD NOT get up. I felt like I was so extremely tired, I couldn't move, couldn't bring myself to roll over or sit up or open my eyes. There were these voices, I can't remember what most of them were saying, but there were a couple lines that stuck out. Something about "because you think you're better than all of us", which was in a male voice.
      Now, at first, when the voices started and I thought I was awake, I got pretty scared. I had a "psychotic episode" last summer and thought I was going crazy again. But, when they started, and I tried to get up to leave my house, because I felt like I was in danger and didn't want to be there, and I realized I couldn't move, I remembered I'd had dreams like that before where I felt like I was too tired to move. So I told myself 'Oh, I'm just dreaming. Well, this dream is scary, so I'm going to wake up now'. Continued trying to get up but couldn't. Voices continued, I started to get a little more freaked out. Then, one corner of my room, near the ceiling, started glowing/lighting up and it seemed like the voices were coming from there. I just wanted to wake up and get out of my house, but as hard as I tried, I couldn't. Then a voice said something about "needing energy". And then I remember it sounding like there were children outside my house, playing or something, and I was like 'ok I AM going to get up and see what's going on out there'. And then my room was filled with the scent of meth cooking (I have never been around meth and really have no idea what it smells like, but I hear it's a horrid smell, and when I went crazy I kept thinking I smelled it and the smell in my dream was exactly the same smell). About that time, I remembered something I'd read one time about astral projection, and people having trouble getting their astral body aligned with their physical body when returning, so I thought maybe that's what was happening to me, and began focusing on trying to make sure they lined up. I started with my hand because I could see it near my face (by the way, my vision didn't seem quite normal, it was like I could see around more than should have been possible). One of the last things I heard the voices say as I was doing this was something like "We're very disappointed in you, Auntie Elemental". Or it could have been Aunti Element. One of the two. And it was creepy, whispery, little kid voices that said it. And it really stuck out to me, for some reason. And I felt very guilty. And then, I finally felt like my bodies lined up and tried moving my fingers. I saw and felt them twitch slightly, and then jerked awake and gasped and my heart was pounding.

      I could never put into words what that dream felt like, but it was so unlike anything I've ever experienced before, and I will never forget it. Has anyone ever had anything like this happen to them?

      Lol, no. It wasn't until after trying to get up and not being able to and hearing the voices that I became aware that it was a dream.

      I've had dreams like that before, too. =/ Where I'm filled with an overwhelming sense of rage and trying my hardest to hurt someone but they just find it amusing.

      Edit: Oh, and I wasn't TRYING to attack her. I WAS attacking her. Lol. I was scratching and biting her face and pulling her hair.

      Are you sure this wasn't sleep paralysis and you were 'awake'? Because that's what it sounds like to me, and I used to hear creepy voices the first couple of times I had SP and didn't know what it was. Of course I could be wrong and it could have just been a creepy dream

      I agree that it sounds like what was going on when you "woke up in your dream" was really you really waking up, but into sleep paralysis. It is not uncommon to experience intense hallucinations during paralysis.

      It's difficult to interpret dreams simply by remembering what happened in them as though you would do for strange events in reality. If you only do that, you can often get a reasonable idea for what the dream was really about, but it's hard to come up with an accurate conclusion. Something that has helped me a lot in the past is trying to remember how I FELT during the dream. Try to recall all of the most important emotions, and meditate a bit on exactly how they felt to you, noticing their effect on physical sensation as well as mental. It might seem a bit strange to say something like "it feels like a sour gas was rushing through my chest", but this is sort of what I'm talking about, and describing the emotions to yourself in that manner can help a lot with pinpointing exactly how it felt, and feeling the emotions again in a controlled manner. Just do whatever you can to describe to yourself EXACTLY how it felt. Really try hard to bring back that feeling so that you can feel it very slightly (If you do this it rarely puts you in a bad mood, but simply allowes you to accurately observe how it felt. At least for me it works that way).

      Now, once you have resurected the feeling from the dream, try to remember other situations where you have felt that same emotion, keeping in mind that there's a good chance that you have only felt a small hint of it that isn't nearly as intense as in the dream. In my experience, remembering situations where something similar to what actually happened in the dream is near impossible, but I can very quickly remember were else I have felt those emotions. After you have recalled specific instances in which you have felt the exact same thing, it is usually fairly safe to assume that your dream had to do with something about these instances that your unconscious mind took special notice of. In this case, your unconscious mind has probably experienced great uneasiness and discomfort that it feels that your conscious mind hasn't acknowledged enough.

      Once you have figured all that out, interpreting the small details of the dream is much easier and usually makes a lot more sense. Each small detail that's really in the dream is a representative of various associations your unconscious mind makes between the experience that you had in the specific instances and other, past experiences, objects, sounds, smells, situations etc.

      I haven't had TOO much experience with this method, but I have used it several times and every time it was very effective, and left me with a profound understanding of a dream that I had found outrageously confusing beforehand. I also had success in coaching other people in interpreting their dreams using this method. As long as you can remember enough about the dream to remember how you felt, and are able to recreate that feeling and connect it to past experience with an open mind, I think this method is more or less foolproof.

      Good luck, and be sure to let me know if you need any clarification on anything or have any other questions. Also, let us all know how it worked out for you.
      To do list:
      Have an LD(without waking up immediately) [x]; LD for more than 30 seconds[x]; LD for more than 2 minutes[x]
      WILD [ ]; DILD [7(ish)]; Fly [x];
      Practice a skill so that I will be better at it in real life [ ];
      Create world peace using a harmonica [ ];
      Solve a real life problem [ ]; Turn the world into a nudist colony [ ]

      I'm pretty certain it was a dream. =/ Shortly after everything coming into focus and being completely clear and real feeling, it went back to being hazy and dreamy. Which, is what usually happens when I'm dreaming. =[ And then when I woke up for real, I could just tell it had been a dream.

      Haha obviously. THAT part was very obviously a dream. I guess they're saying the part where I "woke up" in my room in my dream was actually me waking up and it was sleep paralysis. But I am almost positive I was still dreaming..
