This is technically considered a WILD, right? Has anyone had any experiences similar to this? Sorry it's so long; I'm not very good at summarizing.
The funny thing is that I haven't even been planning on attempting one any time in the near future; it just sort of happened, and I wasn't even really trying. The transition was surprisingly short and fairly uneventful.
It started when I was sort of half-asleep and daydreaming for some reason. I was daydreaming about rolling myself back and forth in some sort of skateboard-like object in an old house I once lived in. It seemed like it was some sort of game. I don't know where that idea came from; it was just sort of already there. It was kind of weird because it seems I was partially conscously controlling the daydream, but some things happened "on their own" too, sort of like in a lucid dream. (The images also were becoming unusually clear, as if it were halfway between a daydream and an actual dream.) I decided to mentally roll all the way to the bedroom I had in that house, then I imagined myself rolling "through" the wall under a window (like a ghost) and falling into this "other dream landscape" or something. I have no idea where that came from, either. I think I was now high in the air, and there were a bunch of pink clouds and staircases everywhere, but I can't remember for sure.
Anyway, at that point, my body suddenly started feeling deeply relaxed, and I started hearing kind of a "ringing" or "humming" sound in my ears like when you yawn. I've experienced this before a couple of times when regaining consciousness while still partially asleep, and once even entered a dream from this state, so I knew what was happening. For some reason, I stopped daydreaming at this point, and I also could vaguely almost feel sensations of my body sort of moving around floating for a few seconds. I never felt any numbness or any other sensations, though.
I think I also had a little HI, which looked like the flashes I get when I press on my closed eyelids. It was faint and only lasted a few seconds, though. When it went away, I spent a few seconds staring at the "graininess" and spots I normally see when my eyes are closed when I'm awake.
Then, I decided to open my eyes and start moving around. I don't have a clue why; it just sort of "felt right", I guess. When I did, it looked like I was still lying in bed in my room, but everything looked abnormally dark, and kind of bluish- or grayish-tinted. As I got out of bed, I sort of automatically knew it was a dream without having to perform a reality check (I should have done one anyway just to make sure, but I didn't remember to do it).
The elapsed time from hearing the humming to ending up in the dream was very short--not much more than 10-20 seconds.
I sort of half-heartedly attempted to summon a DC and was unsuccessful, of course, since I wasn't trying that hard, and kind of "explored" my house for a minute or two (I was the only one there in the dream, and I think I was the only one home in real life at that point, too). The dream itself was pretty short, only a minute or two long. Toward the end, the house started "morphing" into my old house that I daydreamed about earlier, but I didn't really notice anything unusual happening.
When I woke up, I wanted to try it again, but by this time, it was getting pretty late and I decided it was time to get up. Besides, I was kind of excited now and didn't feel like I'd be able to fall back asleep.
The weirdest thing, though, is why I decided to do the things I did. I felt like I consciously made those decisions, but when I look back on them, I have no clue why. I suspect that my choices may have been subconsciously influenced to a high degree--I've been practicing the NST and HILD techniques a lot lately.
