Another lucid dream...and questions

Alright....I had another lucid dream the other night (my sixth total) and the same thing that happened last time happened again. I realized I was dreaming (by slapping a guy in the face to see how he'd react....I was pretty sure I was dreaming but i had to make sure ) and at once as usual I wanted to fly, since I've never successfully been able to do so. And once again as soon as I said the word fly I started getting the vibrations all over my body. I then "woke up" in my bed seeing through my eyelids and having vibrations all over my body. I understand this to be the beginning of an OBE...but dammit!! I just want a lucid dream that I can stay in for more than 2 seconds. So my question is this: Once you become lucid how do you stay in the dream? Any actions you take to do so, or is it just a thing that comes naturally to everyone else? Any info will be greatly appreciated. Thanks

I had a similar experiance but I slapped a girl. Everytime I fly I just sart to walk and begin to fly. I don't need a command. So maybe the issue is that you do not fully believe that you can fly. (or at least you have not convinced your subconscious yet). So when you commanded your subconscious to do somthing that it was not ready for your conscious mind took over and you woke up. I think too, that the shaking sensations you were getting may not have been the onset of an OBE, although it could have, I think it was because you were gioing from one state of consciousness to the next. Similar to what one can experiance when entering a WILD. But just coming out of consciousness rather than leading into it. So basically , believe there are no boundaries and you CAN fly!!!! because you can. If this repeats, try other things in your LDs and try flying at a later date.

I would say that you should focus on your surroundings and not so much on the will to fly. Will to fly, but stay aware of the dreamscape. You probably got your mind off the rest of the dream because you were thinking so hard about the fact that you weren't flying. When you get your mind too far off what is (not what is not) happening in a dream, the dream disappears because a dream is just what you are thinking about while in the dream state. When you lose the dream, you either wake up or begin a new one. Also, try not to get too excited. Just remain calm and drift into what you want to do by calmly thinking about it for a while. Somebody here taught me the flying trick of visualizing distant land areas coming closer to you. Getting too caught up in trying to fly has woken me up a bunch of times too. The stuff I described is what works for me.

It took me 2 or 3 LD's before I could stay in one for any decent lenght of time. It may be that you just need to get a little more used to actually lucid dreaming - don't get too excited. That's what will often wake beginners up. Also, if this happens whenever you try flying, wait on flying for a while. Try doing something a little more mundane. Even just exploring the world can be very interesting. It may help to try a dream stabilization technique first, too. Dreamspinning is one, in which you just spin around however you like, though you should know in advance that it can result in a false awakening fairly often. Another, which I have had more success with, is just saying "Increase clariety," "Increase lucidity," and things like that. Voice commands, though they may feel somewhat ridiculous, are quite effective in dreams. It migh work well to experiment with other methods of flying, too. For example, fly on something, whether its a broomstick or a bed, or a golden winged bathtub. Whatever works for you.
