      'Almost' Nightmares

Have you ever had a dream that you KNOW is supposed to be a nightmare before it turns into one?

I have dreams where I become lucid in the beginning... Well, not fully lucid. I'm aware that I'm dreaming and that this is going to turn into a nightmare, so I'm doing everything I can using the rules of whatever world I'm in to stop it, instead of just saying forget it and flying away.

I've had dreams that I'm absolutely SURE are leading up into a nightmare, but I've been able to stop them and have the dream end before it happens.

It just started happening to me lately. I haven't had a full out nightmare in years because as a kid I taught myself to battle them using lucidity. This isn't the same though.

Has anyone else experianced something like this?

I think that you only think you know it's going to become a nightmare. If you believe that it will be a good dream, then it will be. You're just kind of psyching yourself out. I've had stuff similar to this, but now I've learned to just not psyche myself out and be confident that the dream will be a good one.

I've had very few non-lucid nightmares that I can recall.

I too have been in lucid dreams where things started to get really scarey but because I was lucid.. I either asked for protection or fought back.
