I was lucid... for a few minutes.

Well, last night I tried out this technique for becoming lucid, and it worked. What I did was before I went to sleep I wrote down things such as "I will have a lucid dream" and "I'm dreaming". Once I fell asleep and my dream started and I almost immediately knew that it was a dream, but sadly my lucidity didn't last long. :/ Once I realized it was a dream I tried to focus my senses. When I did this I started to feel more awake, and I couldn't tell if the dream just felt real or if I was waking up because the landscape was starting to fade away into blackness. After a few seconds there was only a bit of colour and light around me in a circle. It felt like I was on a wobbling platform and gravity was pushing down on me. I fell to the ground and then lost my lucidity.

After I lost lucidity I'm not sure what happened. When I woke up I only remembered small pieces of my dream. Pretty much the only thing that I remember is that there were a bunch of girls who were talented in something. I'm not sure what they could do well but I think it might have been something like dacing. :/ Weird....

Anyways, I'm still happy that I was lucid for at least a little while. :3 It was cool that I realized I was dreaming right from the start, but not cool that I lost my lucidity soon after. -__- I think that when I started to feel more awake in my dream it wasn't because I was waking up. This is because in the dream everything at first felt more vivid, but then I think got too excited and and then panicked so the dreamscape faded.

Any tips? What techniques do you use to become lucid?

I've never had a lucid dream, but I've read a lot about them, mainly from this site. Apparently, there are a few things you can do. Spinning can change the setting of the dream, but you risk losing lucidy. Also, I've heard that concentrating on a single object, and making it more and more detailed can stabilise a dream. Like I say, I have no experience, but these are the things I've gathered from this forum...
You'll probably find your own way though, everyone's different.
