Recurring dreams that stop on their own

I just wanted to post this because I thought it was interesting and maybe it's happened to somebody else. When I was younger, I used to have recurring dreams where I'd get into an elevator, and then it would start to fall, but I'd wake up before it fell all the way. So scary! It was always a different elevator, and I was never lucid in these dreams. In real life I was a little scared of elevators but I still used them. Then one night I dreamed about getting into an elevator. It started to fall, like always, but then it slowed down and stopped, then the doors opened up and I got off the elevator. Then I woke up. After that I never had this dream again. It was so weird, it was as if they just stopped on their own. I still have the same reservations about using elevators in real life, but once again I still use them, because they are necessary sometimes. Has this ever happened to anyone else, the dream/nightmare seemed to stop on its own without you really doing anything? Makes me think my subconscious was dealing with something and took care of it without me knowing it... it was just weird.

hi there, yes i have had a couple of dreams of the same nature maybe a few weeks apart but very similar. I took it as i hadnt understood the message being sent to me (as such) the first time around, and maybe it would of continued to repeat untill i found the answer?
"when do i stop falling? how can i stop this? why is this out of my control?
what can i do to make it stop?
i understood my reasons for dreams of the same nature...eventually...
      have yours now stopped?

i used to have a reacurring dream when i was young, probly 3-5 years of age.

the dream was i at a place that had a upper floor, and a lower floor. the room was shaped like this:

      _______
      |
      |
      |_________

so you can see, there was a top floor and a botom floor. on the top floor was where i was always at when i first started to dream. on top of this platform, also was a playset, like at mcdonalds or burger king. (again, i was 3-5, and loved these things).

most of the play areas have a big window, on my big window in my dream my great grandfathers face would appear. soon i would be walking around and going down the slides.

i had this dream about 10 times, each time i would do the same exact thing, but i would add to the dream each time.

the 9th dream i had, (and i think it was 10, it could have been more or less), was when i had a rope hanging from the ceiling. i would grab the rope and propel down to the lower floor. on the lower floor there was one set of chairs and a table. i didnt make it all the way down, but on the 10th dream i did. and when i was at the bottom my great grandfather walked past me and smiled, and that was the last time i had the dream.

also, when i was younger (about the same age) i had two more recurring dreams.

      1. i was in my bed when penquins where under my toys in my room, and i would walk into my living room and eventually, after pushing over a penquin in my last dream, i stopped having this dream.

      2. a moon would appear on a picture i had hanging on my wall, and on that moon would be a face that told me stuff. idk what it told me, but just like the other two, it went away.

so same type of thing you had ^^

I had a dream for years when I was younger (3 to 4) about being a soldier being attacked by Zulu's. I'd seen the film, and it scared the hell out of me at the time, and I started having a recurring dream about getting attacked.

I am stood against a wall made of grain filled sacks aiming my rifle at the zulu's who are running towards me. There is one in particular who is running straight towards me. I reload and fire about three times, but miss. I am now starting to get more than a little nervous.

I reload again, but the zulu has reached the wall. He jumps up and scrambles on to the top of the wall. As I bring the rifle up to get him, he thrusts his spear into my stomach.

The dream would then end, and I would wake up. It used to freak me out as I could feel the spear in me, and see the hate in the zulu's eyes.

One day I got taught to shoot. It was by my Dad, with an air rifle. I had the dream again. I waited this time and held my fire until the zulu scrambled on the wall. Again he thrust the spear at me. Again it went in my stomach. This time he didn't get away with it, though because I puilled the trigger and shot him.

I never had the dream again. But I can still remember it in detail, and I'm 25 now.

      Regards

      Ric

I had a recurring dream for a while about being eleven, but when I looked at it, it stopped and has never returned.

For the first time in my life, I am certain I know what this is!

Your fear for falling elevators is from movies...

EVERY single elevator in our new world, has security that stopps the elevator from falling..

And if that for some reason was to be sabotaged, then the "air cushion" under the elevator, as it falls down the shaft, will make it stop..

So in reality, there is no way for the elevator to smash in to the ground.. Just like you saw in your last dream about it..

I might be wrong though, so do take this with a a pich of salt.

But I feel rather sure about this..

I used to have this recurring dream about being in a flat aged eleven, I was with a woman friend of the family. This woman in the dream would put me over her lap, pull my trousers and pants down to my feet and spank me, infront of girls. Sometimes in the dream the girls would laugh.

When I looked at things in my present situation this dream stopped and has NEVER returned, and I got the right perspective on the past.
