      Insane

Think about actually being insane - who are you after you become insane. Are there parts of you left? can you recover. Out of your mind. To truley ponder over it is as scary as eternity.
What takes over once you reach that braking point?

Well there is a chance that you'll go happily insane. Like you dont have any connection with the real world but you are just happy in your own. Maybe if you get too different from the common human you will be considered as insane. Maybe we are all insane and all the insane people are sane instead. Maybe i'm talking bullshits... It is a matter of perspective isn't it?

I would think that it would depend upon the circumstaces which drove you to insanity and the severity of the case.

Some really smart people end up going insane because of amount of information they take in and the inner philosophical discussions that change their perspective on everything and drive them to question reality to extremes.

Some could go insane because of emotional stress.

      Some torture...

I think that if someone became insane there might be some of that person left... but in some cases maybe not...

I dont have the knowledge to say...

Hmmm... One form of insanity is a defense mechanism used by the mind (not to be confused with the spirit) when it cannot deal with something.

The other is caused by a chemical imbalance or structure change to the brain.

I think that even though your brain is messed up, that your spirit is still present and 'sane'. So, if you assume that you are a spirit living in a physical form, then you have lost nothing by going insane. Your spirit is still there, ready to embrace reality once the problem is cleared up.
you must be the change you wish to see in the world...

      Insane in the membrane

Definitaly some excellent replies. Never thought of it as a defense mechanisn. Thats pretty cool. Its kind of like your brain shutting things off.
Circumstances would defently have an inpact too, like you said Aphias.
At least I don't have to worry about being one of those smart peaple that go insane.
Anyway, I wanted to see reactions before I wrote this part of the insane story. I have had three dreams (none of which were lucid) that in my dream I had went insane & it scared the crap out of me. It was like nothing I have ever felt before (obviously, because I have not gone in sane) -(yet) But even in times of stress or grief or any other emotion. It was so much different than that. So I ask, How does my brain actually know what it is like to be insane without having been there? Or Does everybodies brain got that programmed in there somewhere.

Aphius I've been sitting here trying to think of how to explain it in words. I don't think I can. I wouldn't wish it opon anyone though. I am sure there are several catagories & levels of insane. It gave me a different outlook towards mental institutions & mental health.

Wouldent it be easy though... to give up on the society that has given up on us. room and board, lots of drugs, cartoons, no worries for money.

Yep its crossed my mind, just to let go to let it take me the only reason I think I'm sane is kuz im a subborn dumbass =)

It would be the kind when the spirit gives up on the body, not when the body gives up on the spirit... that would probably be worse... being trapped, imagine having one of those neurogical disorders, knowing it, and knowing you couldent do a damned thing about it?

      His might upholds the weak.
      His word speaks only truth.
      His wrath undoes the wicked."

I've experienced insanity once. It was caused by drugs and lasted about 2-3 hours.
Yes, part of me was still present, and recognized my state.
But as drug kicked in, insanity grew. Soon I forgot language and started to operate/perceive in simple terms of objects. this objects had no name.
Then I forgot who I was/forgot my past. I didnt recognize people around me. This was so freaky.

Not to mention chaos which was in my head...
Wanting something, and upon achieving it, rejecting it and questionin why I need it.
Trying to comprehend/recognize some things I saw, and upon recognizing it, seeing that it was gone and 10x more things needed to be recognized...

Certainly one of the scariest things you can experience.
