      Here's something I wrote...

Hey everyone! I tried to post this elsewhere and got no comments, then I saw this forum so I'm posting it here as well:

I know what your thinking... maybe... it's that philosophers are wierd and stupid, that they ask dumb questions like, "why is the sky blue?" and debate it for eternity when they shouldn't care. I AGREE! You see, MY philosophy inclination is not to philosophise on things that have no meaning, but to try and understand the states of mind, society, and humanity. Anyways, the work I've posted below is an example of the things I write, and this particular piece is called "A Thought" and is about, well, you'll probably figur it out. Hope it brings alot of interesting ideas and conversation out of you guys. Enjoy!

... but I don't know what to call it."

The urge to jot down some philosophically profound statement. An obsessive need to enlighten others through written words.

An endless chasing of the ever-elusive solution, to solve some puzzle. Because there it sits, amidst the scattered thoughts and feelings.

Reason: wasted on the surest things. Rarely used to explain why, or how.

How to find the surest thing.

The thing that would bring light to some corner of the mind that has posed a question, you never knew, not for sure, existed.
      Yet it was felt.
An endless chasing of this ever-elusive idea that somewhere, floating in the mind, is a statement, or some structure of words, to impress the unenlightened souls.

      Thus the quest continues.

Not because you know why, but because you want to know why.
If the mind pursues an unknown thought... might it not be important?
Therefore we dare not dismiss it, as ordinary people do, we draw near to the end of intellect, to perhaps grasp more.

      Grasp more.

The statement is generalised, for the solution has to be. Until we define in ourselves what more there is to grasp, we are faced with an infinity of possibilities.

      Infinite solutions.

It's somewhere in there. This idea, thought, this dream.
Holding on to the roots of intelligence.
Don't ignore it, don't dismiss it.
      Time is relative.

One more step, but it's flown again.

Perhaps there is no solution to this riddle. After all, it may just be a hope of myself.
Hope that there is something of meaning in this mind. Not all useless.
      Some profound, philosophical statement.
      Or is it wishful thinking?
Wishing to be more than one wishing to be more.

Does he manifest this illusion to break free of hopelessness?

You are smart, you just don't know it yet.
Intelligence is encaged within the mind.

Perhaps what you are chasing is the key.
To unlock the cell, and prevail beyond 120.

The question remains. But do you even know the answer?

      "It was a nice thought,

      -
      Adrian Pansky.
      Thoughts to ponder after reading:

Is the ever elusive idea something philosophical like you want it to be...
      OR
is it the question itself that floats around, and manifests itself as an urge to be philosophical, thus creating the idea that eludes you!

You do realize that nearly all modern science started as ancient philosophy right?

Just I find it funny that one would call such things "dumb questions" or "no meaning" and that people "shouldn't care" considering it is those dumb, meaningless questions that no one should care about that have gotten us so scientifically advanced and has opened our eyes to so much more, no matter how trivial the issue would seem. The question of "Why is the sky blue" can expand into so much, including the Ozone layer, and thus the protection of our planet. I hardly find such matters trivial.

Well if you were any good at percieving (sp?) anything, you would know that I was talking to those who thought so, although I think so on some things myself, in ordert to get them to at least READ what I wrote instead of just the title or introduction like ignorant close-minders.

I read the entire thing thank you very much, but your opening statement was ignorant in itself which was my whole point.

I also enjoy the fact that you call me ignorant and closed minded merely because I challenged your opening statement. Extremely hypocritical when you call someone closed minded, when you yourself can't accept a little criticism.

I agree. When I read his opening statement, I instantly refused to read the rest of his post and skipped along down to see if anyone else noticed how dumb he sounded.
      I stomp on your ideas.

Fair enough. I guess I should search for a more welcoming forum to post my enlightened ideals. I have othing against your opinion, but you, undoubtably, do with mine. Doesn't sound fair to me, and that, in itself, is hypocrytical as well.

You should learn to accept criticism a little better. If you're this sensitive to a little conflicting thought, your ideas won't get anywhere. Perhaps you can try again when you've matured a little.

It is my opinion that I should not have to be. are you not allowing for me (a fellow human being) to have an opinion?

You're purposely taking things out of context and twisting one's words now, just to pass the failing off of you and onto someone else.

Everyone is entitled to an opinion, but if you can't handle someone objecting to your opinion, of someone giving you a bit of criticism, constructive or otherwise, then your opinion is useless as it won't get anywhere. If you're too stubborn and too full of pride to accept criticism, then you are the ignorant and closed minded one.

No offense, but I thought it was a little excessively vague and flowery.

Can't you just say what you mean and be done with it?

I'm not sure if you're talking about human curiosity or some strange version of it where we're only curious in order to impress others with our discoveries.... or neither.

For a piece of writing, that's not a good thing, and I don't consider myself a poor reader.

Now this is a much better critical analysis of my writing than the one I've previously been grappling with. You see, they mention why it doesn't work for them instead of making ignorant sounding statements, as I've been accused of doing Rofl. I was, in fact, trying to convey the emotion that I felt one day when trying to think up a piece of writing. There was this "idea", as I call it, that seemed to be perfect but I knew not exactly what it was and the more I tried to discover exactly what it was, the more it eluded me. So I wrote the paper trying to portray what it was like for me to have this feeling and try to figure out what it was/meant.

It's my pen name. Look, all this chat is interesting, and I do understand the concerns and allocations that have been made But can we please talk about the writing itself now? See, when I post something I wrote, I'd rther have constructive criticism or praise on what introduced, rather than the introduction itself. So maybe, if possible, you could detach your facinations with my apparently horrible introduction and re-read just the written work and give me your thoughts.
