what would you do if you knew your life wasn't real

similar to the question Aphius asked, but different. what would you do if you found out you weren't real, that you were only a dream character in someones dream...how would you react when you first found out, what would you do from then on, etc.

I think therefore I am, that would only be a relevation of my nature and not change the fact that I exist. In fact, how could you know that your life isn't real? It isn't really possible at all, that is to know that your life is just a figment of someone's imagination. If it were possible, I don't know how I would react, I guess I would become obsessed with tracking that person down and making an effect on their life in some way.

Don't say that, its worth talking about, just like Aphius' topic! just because its not likely to happen does not mean its not worth discussing, I mean, nuclear war is not likely to happen, yet people discuss and think about it all the time(stupid example perhaps but you know what I mean) I think its a good topic, so there. n_n Anyways, This might sound silly but I would feel grateful for being part of this beings mind, as he sure has a beautiful, beautiful mind. Look at mother earth, look at her grand beauty, when I look at the planet is just feel so happy and grateful I can be a part of this. And im not talking about human society, Im talking about the planet. And even the planets inhabitants are beautiful, regardless of the dark stuff here and there, like war and the like..regardless, so..so beautiful, so yes, I would be grateful to be a part of that. I am grateful now and I would be then. However silly that may sound. Of course, I would be amazed and perhaps abit shocked to hear that..how could I, with so much emotions and thoughts of my own be a construct, that would be a weird thought..again, I would be happy and grateful that I was made the person that I am, and that I was showed the things ive seen, and experienced the things I did(I focus on the positive, not the negative, of course Ive seen negative things, but the positive makes up for it more then enough) As you can see, I try to see the positive in this..more or less negative thing to happen, would anything change? not really..you would simply think diffirently, of course I can speak easily now and would probally be more shocked if it actually happened, but still..I would feel what I describe above. I am glad to be part of this beauty. ^_^

You are all figments of my imagination. Life itself is one whole, therefor I wouldn't be shocked to hear this because I would know that I am just as equal to that being as every other piece of life and existance. I have many radical theories and visions about vast existance 10 fold, therefor it could be possible if my hypothesises were proven true. But I sure as hell won't discover that in my life time, and if I did I wouldn't be hanging around.

But i do wish to challenge your above quotes Lucius, the attitude of concentrate on the positive and not the negative, simply is nothing more than a metaphore. How can you be so happy that a a pup feeds from it's mother, when beside it a baby elephant gets mauled by a pack of lions? Just forget the negative and be happy the pup got some dinner? Or a starving person being given food, and next to them 8 year old children being whipped to harvest that food. wouldn't it seem wise to clarify this 'universal' saying, into something more practical? I know that probally wasnt't your point, so i don't mean to attack you directly, just using you to get my message across. Through my eyes, i would prefer to experience all, however the nature of it's cause, but to fight the negative, not turn a blind eye on it.

I never said I ignore the negative, I just said the positive outweighs the negative. Meaning, when I see negative things I dont ignore them or say "Oh hey who cares, there are more good then bad things anyway", nah, what I was really trying to say was that my image of the world will always be a beautiful one because like I said, the positive outweighs the negative. I once compaired a very very beautiful person with this planet, this planet is so beautiful and great, it has such a beautiful sight, and its just a blessing to live on it. And nobody/nothing is perfect, even this planet has its dark parts, its deserts, its dry wastelands etc, but when you are passing trough you know that ultimately there is so much more beauty then there is ugliness there, that while even though you dont like the rotten lanscape you simply pass trough, and even though it hurts you and tires you at some points, you know that the beauty of the planet is so much stronger and will simply heal those wounds again. This doesnt really have anything to do with the topic anymore =P But I think you know what I mean by now. I am by no means ignoring the negative, after all, the world runs on a balance of both, but I do however put a greater emphasis on the good things then on the negative, because they are worth more, and maintain the beauty n_n

Currently, I think when I die then thats it, my body decomposes and my mind's gone, no afterlife, nothing. Beeing a figment of someone's imagination wouldnt be much worse. If my existence were going to end when the person's dream ended I think I would try and prolong that persons dreaming for as long as I possibly could. I don't imagine such an existance to be very fulfilling, constantly trying to hold off anothers existence for the sake of my own. It wouldn;t make a difference to me. The word "real" doesn't even mean anything. Example: what makes your waking life more real than your dreams? There's no way to tell, because there's actually no difference between "real" and "not real" at all. PS. I do take my waking life a lot more seriously than my dreams dispite what I just said.

our life is as real as us, and im pretty real to me. Besides, i KNOW im part of a dream, as we all are, thats why i call myself a "dream volunteer", i mean, everything is a dream, lets try to get the best out of our existence, we cant do anything else. I volunteer myself to make this dream the most enjoyable experience my true self can have, and living this way, i usually tend to be very very happy (but it took me some time to accept it)

That sounds a lot like the concepts discussed in The Mysterious Stranger, by Mark Twain. (Sorry... just wrote a thread on it... it's on my mind.) I think I would be quietly stunned, and just sit and think for a long, long, time. In the end, though, I'd just try to keep my sense of humor and do the best I could in whatever reality I happen to live in. What good does it do to dwell on the deep mysteries of life if you forget to live?
