      Depression: A Balance?

I am a happy person usually, but sometimes, I just feel the need to cry for no apparent reason at all. I get really sad for a day or so, and then I wake up the next morning refreshed. Is there something wrong with me? This started happening about two months ago and this has been happening to me about once a week. Is this a bit excessive, or am I just balancing my emotions out?

Ooh you have such a nice name!

I don't know.. let's get some psychologist majors in here. *waits for O'nus.. hopefully*

I used to cry every other day, it seemed, but it was always because of some ridiculous fight with my parents. I grew out of that eventually, and now I rarely cry. I get pretty emotional though during some shows or movies.

I don't know, it all depends. Is your life more stressful than it was a couple of months ago? Did anything significant occur? And are these just brief moments or long ones?

Edit: Sorry, just re-read your post and got the answer. A day seems a bit long to me.. what happened 2 months ago?

I mostly put on this mask that I'm emotionless and serious all the time, but I get really depressed during school. Got some anxiety disorders or summat.

well you are (appearently) female. women get moody. especially teens. I wouldn't worry to much about it. I'd try watching a movie or some tv,usually helps me.

I think you are more fortunate than me when you say you feel a need to cry. I myself have a lot of depression, but the kind that makes me feel empty and dead, I'd much rather having an emotionally sad experience, rather than feel emotionally (or spiritually) deadened.

      Then again, everybody is different...

I doubt there is no reason.

Something must be sparking your emotion; you may not know exactly what it is. Whether it be something with your home-life, job, family, friends, or any number of stressful entities.

I think the best idea would be to call up a counsellor. They are there for this type of thing and will usually talk to you over the phone; sometimes you can get free help that way.

They will probably tell you that it is perfectly normal. Don't be afraid of counsellors or therapists, either. Sane people visit them too.

Most on these forums arn't equipped with the knowledge to aid you.

Depression and mood swings amongst youth is normal, and throughout older years too.

Sometimes everyone gets into moods that can last for days where any little thing can just urk you the wrong way. The typical reason behind this, however, is that something else happened to initially start this mood and it has yet to be resolved. Thus, there will be the venting at everything else or lashing out inappropriately - though usually justified with delusional reasoning (typically denial).

The best action to take is to try and figure out what initially started this mood and resolve that. If there is nothing, then that alone should be reason to move on. If you cannot seem to convince yourself to move on and get over.. nothing - then that is a sympton for depression and I suggest to seek help, because there is nothing we can say that would come close to the help of one-on-one help with someone. (Plus, the internet is far too impersonal).

Sometimes these moods come because we feel we are powerless to certain circumstances happening around us and simply cannot do anything to change them. If this is the case.. well, it depends on the circumstances.. all we can say is that we trust you and are confident in your perserverance.

Are there somethings going on? You got an entire message board here willing to talk to you if you want. That goes for anyone, of course.

Thank you guys. It started this summer in a program called upward bound. I love the program, and we were away from home for six weeks. I found out that I liked being by myself. Maybe because of this lack of constant socialization which I had broken away from was too overwhelming a change. Each period of depression was fleeting, though. One thing that often disturbed me, which I do not think was part of the problem, was feeling emotionally, socially and mentally with the people I was around. Maybe I just have too much time on my hands to think. Oddly enough though, seeing the world from both a euphoric and sad standpoint has helped me in my writing. I can also say it gives my life diversity......Lol.

Life is so beautiful and we're all gonna miss it one day. If I ever wanna cry, it's b/c of being overjoyed.

Sit back, relax, smoke a bowl and realize how precious everything is in this world.

      taking things too seriously?

i sometimes get 'wrapped up' into my life and the things going on. i see everything as more important than it is. I focus only on the things going on that really affect how i feel. It really puts things back into perspective if i just go out to a big place like the centre of london by myself and go shopping and sit by the river and play guitar. I see people that i dont know and i see new things. It makes me appreciate different things and see how much i can really actually feel happy for no real reason, and it feels really nice to just be happy and see things from a different angle.
