      Fools.

Yes, I am talking about humans. We always ask trivial questions which don't matter, things with no impact on anything. We always try to work out things which our minds cannot possibly imagine, example, "what was it like before the universe was there?". Try asking yourself that, you'll have a headache. It's impossible to imagine, because there's nothing to imagine. Or is there? We assume that we are the dominant species. Yet, how do we know there isn't life somewhere else? It may be intelligent. Maybe it isn't intelligent by our definition...But because we care about trivial little insignificant things, what does that matter? The word intelligence was invented by humans. Little humans, dots on a huge space. Foolish humans, who have no impact on anything that matters. Arrogant humans, who draw "aliens" with eyes, noses and mouths. Who assume they are dominant. But are we? No. Because if an inanimate object such as a meteor hit our planet, we'd die and not even know it...and what happens next? Our tiny brains cannot imagine. Why waste time guessing? Why not just live the life you're lucky to have and find out when it's taken away? Why waste our tiny lifes? Why?

And here's a question which you are apparently asked at college....
"If you stepped in the Clyde, and then stepped back out, and back in again, would you have stepped in the same river twice?"
Answer that one. Can your tiny brain do that easily? Think about it. Your brain will not be able to answer it. Our brains are weak. They are tiny and insignificant. And, as we can make no impact on anything other than ourselves, we are, indeed, fools.

Answer that one. Can your gigantic, huge, brain do that easily?
      Yes, yes it can.

Hold on, are you suggesting that we abandon philosophy, theoretical physics, and forward thinking all together?

We may not be able to "picture" a black hole, the big bang, 11-dimensional space, what was here before our universe or what will be here after our species in dead and gone. But those scenarios can and
      are currently being
      modelled with cutting edge mathematics.

To that you might say "who cares, it doesn't affect me in anyway". However, I would say that one of the greatest characteristics of mankind is our curiousity, our will to know what can't be known. And heck, sometimes we even find out that it can be known. Without this trait, some of the greatest innovations and advancements in our culture would not have been possible.

The only fool you have prooved here is yourself.

By thinking in that one mind set, your ignorance will take you to hell and back, and to hell once more.

      i agree with brady.
curiosity is what makes it possible for you to use that computer and anything modern or manmade for that matter. we started as prehistroic man who got curious about fire. look what sprouted from that.
when the earth gets crowded and our great great great grandchildren are living on mars because it the only place left to live, and would save them from being put to death at birth due to insuffient space on earth, will you still say that our curious nature about space travel and 'trivial' things was a waste of time.
our brains might not be big and our curiosity may be time consuming but they have got mankind where we are today, furthermore its all that we have so why not use it?

The problems in the world today are necessary for evolution to take place. Ride it out, it will get better We are highly-intelligent, we just don't realize it yet.
In this crazy world if they don't consider you mad, then you have no confirmation of your own sanity, do you?

I enjoy this "pointless thinking". Everything else is pointless as well, so why not think about shit?

I'm sorry that anyone would attempt the persuasion of a weak human mind, through the use of a COMPUTER no less

Well I would agree that the brain is weak, but that is no reason to stop using it. It's an extremely ignorant and short-sighted point of view that assumes that our brain is "the most powerful thing in the universe."

The mind is the most important thing in the universe because it is the only truth. The assumption that the universe is so infinitely complex that we cannot see it is like saying that a giant glowing man in the sky causes lightning.

Your only a fool if you let your brain frustrate you in a way.
As long as you like whatever you use your brain for, there is no point in calling that behaviour foolish then.

I can play a game many times and its fun each time, is that then foolish?
Same for thinking about life or the universe, as long as you have a good time, so what!

No our brains aren't weak. The person who owns the brain is weak. We use a very low percentage of our brain (around 10-15%). If we could somehow unlock the secret to use all our brain power the possibilities are limitless.

Umm...no. I base that on the fact that we have no idea of what is out there. Therefore to say that our brain is absolutely the most powerful thing around is pretty conceded.

That's not true. At all. We've actually discussed this on Dreamviews before.
