The more people believe the earth is flat, the flatter it gets! Dear god, no wonder we aren't a perfect sphere. Some jackass out there still holds onto such archaic beliefs perpetuated by that damned monster known as religion!

Lol, well if everyone believes in 2012, some riots are bound to happen :P Like people who start to raid shopping centers because the world is going to end anyway. What would you do if you honestly believed it was your last day on earth? Sit quietely in your room pondering on the meaning of existence?
Yeah, there will be worldwide panic.
Just like what happened on the past thousand predicted doomsdays that nobody gave a toss about.
Show me a doomsday prediction that had as much mysticism and multicultural support as the 2012 one and then that statement will have an ounce of credibility to it.
Past doomsday predictions have been isolated events where men wearing feathered hats or something predicted something was going to happen and amassed a following of idiots to support them. The 2012 predictions, however, are not the case. Furthermore, the Mayans did NOT say anything about destruction or doomsday! Jesus people, any Mayan researcher will tell you that.
This is also what is said every single time.Quote:

The last one I remember there was a lot of hype for was the 6th of June 06.
By the way, are you going to make a bet or not?
The funny thing about this prediction is, it is starting to be confirmed in many ways by non-biased scientific organizations. Nasa has already noticed a drastic increase in the polar migration, and says that their could be a "problematic weakening" of Earth's magnetic field in 2012. Just the fact that a winter solstice was pinpointed to the day around 3000 years ago should give reason to possibly take this more seriously.
The other point I always try to make is that it is only the new 2012 'predictions' that have any doomsday air to them. The old predictions about the date are about a shift, not a destruction of the planet.
What exactly are you betting for?
You know what, you just shot up 10 points in my book. This man -points to Xaqaria, knows what he's talking about-. Respect.
For the record, no...I'm not making a bit...I anxiously anticipate the 2012 day but I don't claim to believe or know anything that will occur on that day. For what it's worth, I have made very lengthy plans for my life that stretch far beyond 3 years.
I'm actually working on a 2012 web site... stupid server is down at the moment so I cannot update it. Should be back up sometime tomorrow hopefully so I continue it.

I have only worked on it for about a week (a couple of days before I left for vacation, and few the past few days after I got back) so it is still in the middle phases of development right now. My goal is to have it done by the end of the month.
Are you serious? There was no hype at all for that one. That last one you could make a case for is Y2K. But Y2K in it's own right is different than 2012. Still, I'm not convinced about 2012, but I am searching... and along the way I'll be sharing any conclusions I come to on my web site.Quote:

I doubt anything dramatic will happen. If there is a shift, it is probably already happening in the world; it'll just take the time between now and then for everybody to get it. The magnetic pole thing is one idea I somewhat favour, however.
It also amuses me to no end that it's just before Christmas.
nope
Hmmm, goodbye drewmandan...we barely knew thee.
Both are up now. Links are in my signature. :)
Hopefully over the next year it can grow into an interesting community like here at DV. Forum is phpBB right now, not as good as vBulletin, but it's free versus $180.
I am also going to need to proof readers, because my English is... crappy (actually typing is pretty crappy is more like it). Not much up yet, but you get the idea of what I am aiming at here.
I jsut want to clarify, a full cycle takes 26,000 years but alignment happened every 13,000 years, twice in a cycle.
When the planets became aligned in Hercules, what happened? I forget. I knew it was something crucial, though. I think he could go back to the underworld to get that slut of his. Either that, or that's when he lost all his powers. Something like that.
I'll tell you what happens on 12-21-12
The sun will rise.
People will goto work.
People will go on their lunch break and have a smoke.
People will drive home and cook dinner.
People will goto bed.
And the day will pass.
I think anyone who believes the world will end on that day needs to occupy their minds with something a little more positive and productive.
I think it's simply people fearing the unknown. Again.
Once that day is known as a bad thing, people start looking for excuses as to why everything will go wrong on that day. "It says here..." "But that also means..." Etc.
If we actually died every time we had a 'Doomsday' the human race wouldn't have made it this far.
I myself have actually lived through five "Apocalypses".
Don't worry about it.
I read somewhere that 2012 was supposed to be a big consciousness shift. The earths planetary frequency rises, and us humans shift to the 4th dimension. I dont know if that means us dying or going to an anstral realm or if that means us humans will have more mind power.
This sums it up perfectly.

Or maybe in 2012 we just completely evolve. Does anyone notice that new generation of children seem really smart? I know this lady her son was like 5 or 6 or something, using the internet. I've also seen 2 year olds walk, and i swear i thought there were like 4 or 5. I think there called indigo children.
