Santa is the same thing as Jesus

There's been a great story arc going on over at Boondocks about how Santa and Jesus are essentially the same.

I know some places people instead of celebrating santa claus, they celebrate baby jesus birth, and instead of presents being given by santa, its done by baby jesus. I personally don't like the whole x-mas thing, its gone way past what it is supposed to be

I personally think Boondocks is not far behind Calvin and Hobbes as one of the greatest newspaper comic strips of all time.

Funny you mention Calvin & Hobbes. I pulled out my two C & H books today
and gave them to my kids. They hadn't heard of it and were laughing their
asses off all afternoon. I read a bit with them and was cracking up, still.

That place were they have the baby jesus giving presents is germany.
A long time ago martin luther wanted to change christmas by making jesus more involved so he made a tradition in which the baby jesus deleivered the presents but people and children were uncomfortable having baby jesus deleiver presents so they changed baby jesus to christ child which is a angel dressed in nice clothes who is a woman now deleivers presents to children in Germany.

      Not really.

Here in the netherlands we have a 'sint nicholaas' AKA 'Sinterklaas'. His story is one of a saint from turkey about 1000 years ago that gave poor people gold and night when they were sleeping, -helped by his servants btw- through the chimneys of the houses.

Now we dutch changed the story that he has a horse and gives presents and is from spain..

You americans stole that from us. Alot of american kolonists were dutch you know. New York used to be called new amsterdam =)

So bascially, unless this Saint Nicholaas is jesus, I don't think so =)
