Why are you a Theist?

This is like the "Why are you an Atheist" thread except this time its for Theists in other words people who beleive in god. I want this place to be non judgemental and not a place where people get into arguments or debates just drop by and tell us why you beleive in god and have you ever thought about wether or not god doesn't exist and what made you keep beleiving in god. Add whatever details you want. Atheists also may add details aswell as long as it's revelent. oh ya and Predatory Atheists don't pick on the theists lol. I want this to be a non judgmental thread where we hear from the other side FOR ONCE since it seems atheists dominate this R & S section in particular and i don't want the theists to be scared to post in here for fear of "predator atheists" (a word i just made up) who will insult their beleif system.

Well they only come out when really stupid atheists come along (they pick them off, and, atheists being the progressive folk, do not interfere with said mutilation) or it's a full moon. Or they recently got laid-- but that's a different story.

Well give us more that a couple hours! I won't go into the details of my conversion but I will say this; I've had to many prayers answered, seen to many miracles, received to many blessings, been protected to many times, and felt my savior’s love to strongly to ever deny his existence.

Before converting to the church of latter day saints what was your relegion out of courosity ?(If you don't mind sharing that is)

I didn't have one. Some may disagree with me but I feel that even if you're born into a church you still have to convert. You still have to decide if this is the right church and whether you're willing to live it. I see conversion is a life long process.

Theology for me provides a vivid example of philosophy. I believe hope is a very big aspect of life. What I do not believe in is people using religion for their on personal greed. I follow the example of Christ, but im still involved in Physics. I believe the bible should be read inbetween the lines for its philosophies and not be taken literally.

I believe in God because it makes sense to me to do so. It is not something I can control. Even if I could, I would believe in God. There are many factors that contributed to this, but I can tell you that "brainwashing" is not one of them. My parents have drilled many things into my head at a young age, and I have seriously considered all of them, and discarded some. I hope that answers the question

I've been raised in a christian family and had to go to church every week eventhough I never believed in God. But the more I got to know about science, the more I started to understand what God is. so you might say science converted me

I have tried to believe in god. When I was young, in 1st grade, I was asked if I believe in god. I said yes because I wanted to fit in, but truly I did not believe. I felt bad that I lied, but if I said no, I was afraid I would be labeled as someone who has no morals. I now realize that I am agnostic. I am not sure what I can believe. I have had plenty of dreams where they are so absurd, but seem so real at the time.

I don't like religions in general. I do belive in God but I don't like having some kind of control over me.
