God = God as in a title word of something

i don't believe in God, although it seems you can change the meaning of the word God to mean anything. So i guess some people actually call the Universe God, but they don't mean it's a sentient being? I don;t really understand it.

I don't believe in any deity, that makes me Atheist right? Obviously i don't know how matter came about as you can't make or destroy matter. But i don't believe a sentient deity was behind it.

Ever heard of the gaia hypothesis? Some scientists think the Earth as a system has the characteristics of a living being and thus it should be considered a life form itself. Is there any difference, excluding semantics, between the view of a Scientist who doesn't adhere to the gaia hypothesis and a Scientist who doesn't? Of course not, it's exactly the same, the difference is that some classify it as "life", others don't.

I find it really pathetic that this place has groups. I don't think i've seen an atheist have an intelligent conversation with a religious person, and a religious person with an atheist. Then when someone says something they don't like a whole group jump someone...all atheists. Can't wait untill the religious people come in and all group up against the atheists. Typical. Who cares who is right? why try ripping eachother a new hole because of something that may or may not exist? stop making these threads heated topics because you guys can't come to an understanding, or accept their opinion over yours.
