      Hypothetical: Real Test of Faith

Upon thinking about the subject of blind faith, I came upon an interesting
question. It was born out of the simple fact that those who reason on their
own for their beliefs are often condemned by the religious community for
not following the only 'true word of God'. My question reads,

-----"Surely, if there was a God, they would reward those who reason critically
over those who believe blindly, regardless of what the conclusion of their
reasoning was, and so long as it did not result in beliefs that harm others. Why
should blind faith (see: indoctrination) be higher than any form of critical
reasoning in the eyes of any God?"

And this is where I introduce my second hypothetical scenario.
The premises for this scenario are as follows:

      1) God is a fact.
      2) All holy texts were passed from God to prophets.
      3) All holy texts are false.
      4) God rewards those who are aware of the errors in the texts.

This is not a "What would you do?" type of situation. I only ask that you
consider it for the sake of good discussion.

I dont think its ever been true that blind faith is more blessed than people who look for truth. I am constantly struggling with trying to find out what its really all about. Am i worried about going to hell for not being "sure", No. theres a bible verse that says "seek and you shall find" so, if that verse is really true, than God must be confident enough in his truth that he is willing to let people question him, and even would prefer that people question him. Blind faith has no rewards, its just another way of not really caring about the truth, and no reward could come from that. I dont know if thats what you were referring to , so maybe i replied to this the wrong way, but yeah, thats how i see it.

Blind faith is a term that was invented by biased anti-Christians

Faith is not completely blind. The faith itself is faith in things that cannot be proved, but I have reason to have faith. And that is not blind to me at all. I personally have the knowledge of Gods existence through prayer. I know I can trust, and what I have trustd in has not failedme yet. For this reason, I feel rather confident in my faith. Not to mention, everything I know of in the Bible makes sense to me, therefore it does not require much hesitation to believe it.

I.E I wouldn't trust some random man asks me to meet him for luch, I won't have any part in it. However, if my father says the same thing, I am rather inclined to go along with the same "blind faith" that I have as a Christian.

Exactly. It makes sense to you.

As I recall, you are a creationist. Even though we have mountains of proved information that negates mere dust piles of creationist speculation, you still believe these things. You are the definition of blind faith.

      Lol.

      Faith is not completely blind.
Yes it is, faith is the belief in something with no logic or reasoning behind. Usually this is from personal bias.

The faith itself is faith in things that cannot be proved, but I have reason to have faith. And that is not blind to me at all. I personally have the knowledge of Gods existence through prayer.
      Rofl.

Makes sense? Are you an idiot or just generally an uneducated person?

I.E I wouldn't trust some random man asks me to meet him for luch, I won't have any part in it.
Because you don't have faith in him.

However, if my father says the same thing, I am rather inclined to go along with the same "blind faith" that I have as a Christian.
That's a pretty crappy analogy. Blind faith is more like, you wouldn't believe in the Flying Spaghetti Monster because when you were little no one indoctrinated you into the belief of it, but you believe in God because of all of that rather than actual inquiry on the subject and more personal and self-confirmation bias.

In other words, you believe because you believe and that is all you know.

Yes! Exactly. That's sorta the point. I have no reason to trust a stranger.

Neither. I am both educated, and not an idiot. Oh trust me, I've read WAY more of the Bible than you have. I think that if anybody is in a position to judge how much sense the Bible makes, it would be me. Not you.

People, my point is, Christian faith is not blind to ME. This question was directed to us Christians. Alright?

You're really a person who likes to make a lot of blind assumptions, aren't you? My point still stands

Yes! Exactly. That's sorta the point. I have no reason to trust a stranger.
Boy, come back when you have some good analogies and arguments with substance.

That's like saying that the belief that the sun is a giant citrus fruit isn't blind to the people who believe it, and is therefore justified. If they were educated and did not cling to an arbitrary belief because of blind faith, then they would know that the notion is ridiculous.

Alright, I understand that some of you strongly disagree with each other, but can we debate in a more peaceful manner instead of getting at eachothers throats? This is why I usually dont post on subjects like this, people dont know how to disagree without making a fight out of it.

He's twisting your words to make a signature! O:! Watch out!

How is he twisting them? He didn't misquote, paraphrase or add any sort of implication to it. It's a direct, in context, quote from your post. How in the name of all that is holy, is that twisting your words?
This space is reserved for signature text. A signature goes here. A signature is static combination of words at the end of a post. This is not a signature. Its a signature placeholder. One day my signature will go here.

He's quoting only a section of my words to make it sound like

"I am educated, and am not an idiot, because I have read more of the Bible than you have."

When in fact, the two were both seperate statements applying to different ideas. I went on to say "I think that if anybody is in a position to judge how much sense the Bible makes, it would be me. Not you."

Because he pretended that I was an idiot because I believed the Bible made sense.

I just thought it was funny, that's all. You should have stated it differently. Anyway, if anyone really wants to read your full post, all they have to do is press the little blue button by your name in the quote.

You know, there's one thing I never really got to ask. I just want to know one thing Noogah. I want to give you a good chance to explain this without me second-guessing anything. Just answer me this one question as honestly as you can. Can you tell me exactly why you believe what you believe?

Good question. Which part of it? Being a Creationist, or a Christian? Because, Christianity is spiritual, and Creationism would be more of a scientific/philosophical thing.

Invader's right, though. Enough of this crap.

I'll be back later to discuss the OP.
