Thumbs up

Its often said in various traditions that bed orientation affects sleep (and LDs)
so I'm wondering if we can find any patterns here at DV.

Another topic is exploring sleeping position (i.e. back, front, left , right) and its potential affect on on lucid dreaming:

Hey slimslowslider.

This really seems bizarre as I have thought about all the places I have lived. Not ,any, but ALL of the positions I have faced my bed are direct east, or real close to.
I wonder if that was somewhat of an unconscious choice. Sun coming up?? I don't know.

That would be interesting - and a pattern for sure!

Haven't done much research but I remember seeing the exposed bodies of Inca mummies in the deserts of Peru - all facing the rising sun. Quite a memory - there were several square kilometers of robbed graves with human bones lying everywhere - people had made sculptures from the bones like pianos etc...

I've heard East mentioned many times elsewhere, for different cultures, can't remember specifics - will do some Googling - but anyone know???

Just to be certain - the direction the bed faces is sometimes not explained - I've always assumed 'faces' is towards the foot. Would you agree?

Direction... no - not for me. But which SIDE I'm laying on makes a difference. I seem to have more LDs when laying on my right side.

In our bedroom, that does mean facing east. On the upstairs couch, that's facing north, and at the northern escape, it is facing south where I most often sleep, and east in the master bedroom where I sleep when the wifeling's there, which isn't terribly often.

Ooops - so I should have added a "Doesn't seem to make a difference as I couch surf and always LD!" type poll option. Anyone know how to edit the poll options?

Yep - that certainly would have been my choice. If you figure out how to get it in there, I'll vote it - I haven't voted yet.

Ah, well, I always thought my bed faced west cause that's the end where my head is....but if you go where my feet are it points east. Confusing! I voted west, by the way.

Seems like most people face east. It's a definite pattern!

Need lots more data before we could establish a definite pattern but its interesting...
We would also need to know which direction beds in the general population face to compare LD/nonLD. I would guess that lots of people want to wake to the morning sun. Also, lots of houses face south (in the Northern hemisphere) for puposes of general daylighting and heat gain. But it does seem reasonable to hypothesise that sleeping with the sun on the bed might increase LD frequency? Perhaps the question should be "Does your bedroom get direct sunlight in the morning?" I would also be interested to know if people sleep with the curtains open or closed. I prefer them open (I like to know at some level what time it is) - but my partner insists on them being hermetically sealed and there's no compromise possible...

Once again, I wont vote in the poll because I've only ever had a semi lucid dream but I would just like to say that my bed also faces east.

Well my bed faces North, but I haven't slept in my bed for the better part of a year. The position I sleep in on the couch I sleep on (in a more quiet part of my house) would deem it facing (the direction my feet are pointed towards) towards the East as well, almost exactly. However the only window in the room faces to the West, so not a lot of sunlight there in the morning. In both rooms, the curtains are open.

right now my "bed" faces east, but i used to have a futon thing that was facing north or south, most likely north,(i could sleep either way) and before that it was east/west.
before i changed rooms, it would have been north, and a bunk bed facing east.
before that in my grandpas house it was north.

is that enough for you? lol, i had to get google earth to figure that out.

my bed changes around alot, but position is mostly the same.
Do you know where you are?

That's either an amazing coincidence that the majority is east, or a great discovery.

It's also interesting that my bed is East, and my couch is West and when i sleep on my couch I usually don't LD.
Reality? Where? Did I miss it?

Feng Shui Chiniese accient method of using a specific space... I know we all have heard the New Age feng Shui crap/... But there is a large tradition behind the real thing...

And yes, there are better places that work better for you specific places to work, to Sleep, due that the earth is full of electromacnetic fields and Our bodies produce energy + all the electrical stuff around are houses... sure it affect us.

Is a very complex method But I know that this has worked for people.
