      Back to the Basics

A while ago I started a research project on lucid dreaming, but seeing as I am in a dry spell at the moment I wasn't getting many results, so I decided to bring it to the forums.

      My Research Project

Everyone is thinking up fancy new techniques named with confusing acronyms, but I thought why not just figure out how to do the basic techniques better, and with more efficiency.

Basically, I want to know after 5-6 hours of sleep, what is the optimal time for staying awake before going back to bed and performing a regular WBTB or a MILD.

When (if ) you post your results indicate: how long you slept before waking up, your method of awakening, how long you were awake for before going back to sleep, method of inducing lucidity, and any other information that you think might be relevant.

I'd be eternally grateful if anyone could post results seeing as my project is due next week... procrastination ><

I think it's different for everybody. I don't think there is an optimal time of staying awake, or a single best method etc...
that being said, This is what gives me the most success..

I go to sleep normally. I hope for and try for a DILD, but I rarely have luck with them.
I sleep until I wake up naturaly in the morning. As soon as I wake up, Im reminded of lucid dreaming. (the act of waking up is all it takes to remind me).
I don't get out of bed, I don't try to stay awake, nothing. I simple roll over and go back to sleep while passively thinking about shit to keep my mind busy. This turns into a WILD.
sometimes I find myself in the scenario I was thinking about, sometimes I feel the vibrations, and when I know I'm a sleep, I stand up out of bed and go about the dream.

I realize that it's different for everybody, but I was thinking that perhaps there would be a preferred amount of waking time before a MILD or WBTB for a majority of the people. This would eliminate some of the guesswork and would make an easy starting point. For example, if we knew the 58% of people had more LDs after 15 minutes of staying awake, then logically you could start trying MILDs that way. Of course this wouldn't be true for the other 42%, but it's better than just starting at random.

Off topic, but you have an interesting way of having LDs. Maybe I'll try it seeing as some of the more complicated methods aren't working out so well for me.
