      New VILD Technique

With VILD, the general principle is to visualize yourself becoming lucid in a specific location, typically a "Dream Room". You can visualize yourself in the Dream Room with some friends who tell you it's a dream, or you can simply visualize yourself in the Dream Room becoming lucid and exclaiming "It's a dream!"

Because dreams are mostly generated from visual memories, VILD can be greatly improved by using photographs of a room you hardly ever go to. What I did was take about 50 photographs of a room full of interesting objects in a friend's house that I visit about once a year. In addition to photographing the room from all angles, I took lots of close-ups of the interesting objects showing the fine details.

You can run the photos as a slide show on your computer before going to bed; put a photo on your computer as wallpaper; put photos in your car and at different locations in your house such as the bathroom mirror or a bulletin board in your bedroom or office, and so on. Every time you see a photo, visualize yourself becoming lucid in the Dream Room and what you want to do when you get there. During the course of the day, think about the Dream Room as much as possible. The goal is to create a controlled obsession about the Dream Room so that it becomes your "default" way of thinking when you are not dealing with the problems of life.

If you don't have access to a room like my friend's, take photographs of a room in an art gallery or museum. You can use this technique with DILDs or WILDs. As you persevere with the visualization, you will find yourself thinking about the Dream Room more and more often until you dream about it -- and become lucid.

Very interesting idea. Does it have to be a room full of stuff or can it be somewhat empty? Im curious to try this as i've had very small success with VILD in general lol

The more objects, the more interesting and capturing the room becomes.

I think this has great promise as a concentrated effort for someone who has had no luck with anything else =). It is certainly not a casual technique though. And don't let too many people see your giant array of photos or they might think you're some sort of crazy person.

I am very interested in your results from this. I assume that you are currently doing the trial runs for this? If you become as obsessed as you think you will with this room, there may be DILD opportunities too. It is very probably (read as: almost assured) that this room is going to creep into your non-lucid dreams too. Be aware that you could potentially use this room as a dream sign as well.

I'm curious about this. I have heard that you have to do an RC whilst in the room in some variations. While doing this, do you visualize yourself doing an RC, or do you actually do one while preparing it?

The procedure reminds me of Microsoft Photosynth. Maybe you could use that to help visualize the room? Or would it make you grow too accustomed to it and lessen effectiveness?
