Sometimes in the mornings when my alarm goes off and I keep hitting snooze my dreams are very easy to retain during the little mini naps I have inbetween alarm soundings. It gave me the idea of using and alarm to wake yourself up repeatedly, tranferring yourself from wake to sleep to wake to sleep in a short period of time. IMO I believe that this could help build your awareness to the dream state from having been awake very briefly many times during the dream cycles, helping to wear down the threshold between states so that lucidity is more easily retained while falling asleep. "Lucid Lubrication" in a sense.

I also believe that, if it does not induce lucidity outright, it would be a good exercize for recall, having a dream during each mini nap and writing it down, furthering a persons attempts to recognize dream signs etc.
