I don't know all the details, but it's probably that they give the school money so the school sells their product. I don't know exactly.... that would be interesting to look into, though. In one of the student stores they pretty much only sell coke products (including Dasani water *gag*), but in the other one you can find more vareity... but the kicker is that you can't use your meal plan money (that you've already paid for) at the other (cheaper) store, so if you have a meal plan and want something to drink, you're probably going to end up with a Coke product.

I don't like soda. I don't like carbonated beverages. The bubbles are too prickly on my tounge! And I just don't like the flavor enough in the first place to make it worth all the sugar and calories. I don't like diet either. So water and iced tea all the way for me! Oh, and coffee. I love coffee. Along with bottled frappuccinos. But I haven't had those in a while since I'm on a "diet". They stopped selling soda in the vending machines at school because it's unhealthy. Then they fill them up with the worthless, sugary, calorie-rich juice drinks instead. Oh, and there's also machines with donuts, chips, candy, etc.

All I can say is DAMN. NEVER, again I say, NEVER will I purchase a Coca-Cola beverage, more than that, I will not drink one that is manufactured by them. Unfortunately I wait tables, and I serve people Coca-Cola all day, but just reading th article that Ynot posted I have become sick to my stomach. In this post it is ever apparent just how crooked things are. Companies buy support for their murderous atrocities by sponsering schools. Between now and my post last night I came to a certain understanding. Perhaps I am being biased in my judgement. It is possible in fact the union workers were assinated by their own government in order to keep the poor poorer, as is often a function of governments, infact it could be not involved with coca-cola at all, leaving them with this moral decision: Leave it to the outsourced workers to decide not to intervene with conditions and keep their humbilty, so that they might keep their lives and bad wages. If it is not coca-cola doing these crimes then they are infact helping the 3rd world countries, even though some of their employees are being killed for their actions in relevance to their work. Sometimes we are our own enemies.

I'd go to people's houses and everyone would be drinking soda and I'd ask for milk. It was kind of embarassing, heh. I've since switched over to water simply because of the calories.
