Gaah. I need help with something.

Ok. long story short...SOMEONE decided to put "AOL Parental Controls" on the computer. Aaaand, it applies to Internet Explorer too. So basically, I was just wondering if there's any way I can get past these without proxies or keyloggers. And, without the parents knowing obviously.

I would post some screenshots, but guess what's not allowing me on any photo-uploading sites?

<Edit: Yeah, and stupid question. Where can I find the Temporary Internet folder?>

haha sorry to heart that. I got norton parental control and what I did was to download firefox. I'm not sure if that will get you through the parental control, or maybe with netscape. Well, it's worth the try isn't it?

Tell your parents that "parental control" is a disrespectful concept like no other and that no one had better limit anyone else in their actions considering freedom of choice without expecting revenge and what not?
I don't know what parental control may block (never even seen it) but apparently it blocks access to certain material online I assume? Why? It doesn't make sense. If you want to access some sort of information online (just like if you were to want to realize whatever physical action or whatever else of such manner) then it's your decision and you hold both the goal in front of and the responsibility behind such an action. Every person chooses for one's self throughout life and learns from consequences of one's own actions; limiting someone of a certain possibility means utter disrespect for that person; the same as saying, "You're an immature imbicile with no right for existance in its whole".
      Blasphemy, that's what it is.

Yeah talking to your parents is the best approach I think. I also googled how to bypass the parental control, and I foud a forum that suggested surfing the internet through this page
      www.anonymization.com
      and also www.razorthought.com

      I hope this helps

      depending if it's client-side, or server-side
(ie. is the blocking done at AOL's end, befoe it gets to your machine, or is the blocking done by your machine)
you could try using the windows roll-back thingy
or booting into safe-mode and renaming any dll's (c:windowssystem32) that aol installed

now there's an idea. Just go into the system folders, find out which files are related to the parental blocks, then go in through dos or safe mode and f'ck with them until they don't work no more.

^^^ maybe a little more tact

one method that always works well for borking programs
is turning off simple file sharing (my computer -> tools -> options -> view)
then right clicking on a file (ie. one of your aol dll's)
      into properties
      then security
      click the advanced button
and untick the "inherit parent permissions" box
      when asked what to do
      click "copy current permissions"
      then ok
next, deny read and write access to the file

      bingo !!

      *edit*
I'm assuming you can't just kill the process through the task manager?
      ctrl-alt-del, then processes
look for something that might be the parental controls process
      then end task

Ok, there's probably something you guys should know.
      I'm not a computer genius.

Anyway, under My Computer > Tools> there is no 'Options' tab or button anywhere, so I'm not sure what to do from there. And I'm in the administrative account, btw.

You can find the temporary Internet folder if you right click on the Internet explorer icon, select properties, then general. You can either delete all temp files, or just delete them one by one if you're like that.

Also it helps to delete cookies aswell, if you're looking to completely destroy any condemning evidence...

I'm being very hypocritical but if your parents don't want you to go to certain sites maybe you shouldn't try to go to them. All parents just want to protect their children.

Wholly disagree but won't go further into details again considering the topic at hand probably shouldn't contain too huge of a discussion about freedom of choice/action and what not.

Heartily agree. If something (or someone) defies your goals, your will, your "want" - destroy it; nothing simpler.
If this world actually housed the concepts of true love, true friendship, etc. then that would obviously be a hideous thing to do but since such is not the case - do what's best for you, nothing and no one else matters.

Oh, I know. They're retarded. I mean, personally, I don't even want to see porn and all that. So if it was just blocking me from stuff like that, I really woudln't mind at all. But it's blockign me from stuff like Ebay, the Dell website, AlbinoBlackSheep, other message boards I go to

      Hahaha.

I don't think it has to do with the titles, but the content.
