i thought of something about 4d

If you played the new paper mario for wii, you would know that you can flip from 2d to 3d. Sometimes you will run into a wall, but when you go 3d, you see there is a way behind the wall that doesnt exist in the second dimension. imagine if you were in 3d, and there was a cube that made it impossible to get past the cube, so you could flip into the fourth dimension and find away around the cube. hard to imagine but yet its a good way to think of it.

What you said is interesting, that 3d provides a way around 2d, and theoretically 4d around 3d, (though some say 4d is time, not physical), however I still cannot picture a 4th physical dimension, kind of like we can't imagine a new color

If you were a 2-D being and you saw a square in front of you this is what you would see.

A line. Of course, 3 dimensional beings see a square when looking at the 2-dimensional image from a distance away on the z axis (3rd dimension)

Our world would look totally different if you looked in on it from a perspective along the 4th dimension.

click on the number spiral thing on the side to see it.

And as for the 2d perspective stuff...

In the 3rd dimension we can only see a 2D representation of the world around us.

In the 2nd we can only see a 1D representation of a 2D object.

You should check out the classic book Flatland by Edwin Abbot. It's an interesting little fantasy story about being two-dimensional and not being able to conceive of the third dimension.

@ arby, wtf? We have three dimensions. Up, down forward, backwards left, and right, that's 3 pairs, three dimensions, therefore we CAN detect 2d, and 1d objects, but our world is 3d, lol.
