Nothing special going on here in the Netherlands, but eh, happy 4th of July to all the Americans. Holland did support the American revolution anyway

Lol, "we" wish, Ynot. It was the other way around. Why'd you think it was called New Amsterdam before it was called New York. Some dumbass Dutchman traded the city for Surinam. >.>

And Holland only supported the American revolution because we were battling England ourselves.

Aah, back then the Dutch were still powerful and respected. Those were the good old days. Good thing I'm 250 years old, so I know. >.>

Sat on the front porch last night, drinking coffee and watching the neighbors shoot off fireworks early.

I've got the grill set out and will begin cooking at 6pm for the family and a couple of guests. We'll then play ladder-ball until dark and then the kids will shoot off their fireworks. Maybe play war with the Roman Candles. I mean how can you resist a firework that has "Warning, shoots flaming balls" printed on the side

Zomg, I used to love doing that as a kid. I mean, I played war with all kinds of fireworks, but the roman candles were the absolute a-bombs among the arsenal. Whenever one of the other kids used one, all you could do was run like hell, and vice versa.

My hubby and I used to buy [illegal] M-80's for the 4th of July and blow them up under a 5 gallon bucket. Have you ever seen a big bucket like that shoot straight up about 50 feet in the air? lol

I'm not American, but a Happy 4th of July to all the Americans anyway.

Just wondering... do you really go crazy with dynamite and rockets like Tom & Jerry do on Independence Day?

I bought a little over $30 in fireworks today. My dad bought a bunch of little stuff, so I wanted something more... robust. I'm not about to buy the $40 single firework, but it's make some nice noises and lights...

And tonight, our family continues its ritual of getting together with friends, barbecuing, lighting fireworks, and then walking across the street to the park to watch the town's firework display, which is usually not too bad for a town of our size.

EDIT: And burns, you should have colored little Red's ear bandages... just to be festive (But the collar is looking fine, too!)

That's cool, I loved doing that! Awesome food on the grill, beautiful weather, and then seeing the fireworks after it got dark enough. I can hear our town's fireworks as I type this, but I can't see them through all the trees.

One thing that I got to experience last year (literally, one year ago) was the 4th of July in Maui, and I must say, I was very impressed with the fireworks.

And that sense of patriotism, of course.

yeah this forth was great. i went out to the store and bought about 500 of the cheapest fireworks they had (the flower groundbloomers). Sounds boring right? wrong. Ive become a master of modifying those into rockets that will shoot 40-60 ft into the air great fun!

Well, I learned how to keep three boys entertained. I took a small catfood can and half filled it with gasoline. I then set it in the middle of the field about 50 yards away and encouraged the guys to shoot fireworks at it. It took about 45 minutes before anyone had a close enough hit to set it off!

      FUN FUN FUN!!!
