      The secret of words

It's not much of a secret, but have you noticed that if you say one particular word over and over again, it starts to sound almost completely different and you don't see the meaning of it the same way? It's weird. I was talking about marbles today, making fun of how my friend says it, and I kept saying it over and over imitating him, and then I started tripping out (sober XD) cause the word lost it's bloody meaning! Ever happen to anyone here?

They lose their meaning! It's nuts! Try it! Say any word over and over again. Man that's nuts.

Incidentally, on a side note, I didn't realize it was against the rules to make posts about your post count. Haha. Sorry everyone. In the mean time I have 333 posts! And that's not against the rules, cause that's not the topic of the post! Loophole!

Anyway back to what I was saying, try any word. I find that it's more fun to say a word that is kinda weird. Like....arm. Or retard. Or ficus. Hhahahaha. Ficus. That's fucking epic.

Some people do way too many drugs. Either that or they lead incredibly boring lives. Hehe, boring, that's a funny word.

*Goes off to repeat "boring" until it loses all meaning*

I believe this is what Mantra meditation is based on. Sounds cool, I'll try it sometimes. I think this topic is above senseless banter material.

Yes! I thought I was the only freak on Earth who did that. I started tripping out on people's names when I was about five. I would sometimes say the names of people I know and think, "I've never really thought about that word even though I've said it zillions of times. What a strange word. What is that?" I thought I was strange because I did that, and I didn't tell anybody. I still do it sometimes. It's cool to see that somebody else in the world does that.

I think names do it more strongly than other words because people you know have a significance that inanimate objects and verbs and stuff don't have. It's bizarre to see that a word that has special significance to you is just a random sound that somebody made up and that has no meaning outside of a random association between itself and something that has major significance. Before it was ever used, it was just unused gibberish, and you can still see it in a gibberish light while looking at it from a different angle.
      You are dreaming right now.

      F&%*k@ F*k(#! FU$*c&#

I think swear words are good like this.
If someone swears ALL the time it is like..whatever. But I rarely swear or my wife for that matter. But when we do, people know we are serious!
      It has much more impact.

Maybe I will go around dropping the F bomb all day.

I find it bizarre to listen to other languages. I sit there thinking all that garble means just as much as my sounds to them. It's just noise really.

I tried saying "sheep" a lot once. Then I got to the stage that it just doesn't sound like a word and sounds stupid.

      And yes, f**k.

Sometimes the word turns "upside down" when you say it repeatedly, and it easily lose or change its meaning. For example when you repeat Neko, it turns to kone kone kone and change back to neko after a while and so forth...

Yes! I know exactly what you mean! I had the same feeling when I had to write the word "purple" over and over and over. I started to think, "wow, 'purple' is such a strange word, how did anyone ever come up with that word?"

Try "soup" or "curl" or "gargle."
