Thread: Puzzling thought about 'decency'

everbody wants to look good.
many kids model themselves on how pop stars look. they want to look like that too.

fashion industry answers to demand and starts producing crap like that for kids.

kids/parents buy it, with the 'well she's certainly not going to dress like that when she's older' view.

it would be okay if we lived in a world with no perversions, or even better no pressures to be the superficial beings that people seem to think they must become.

don't get me wrong. i like to look good. for myself and for my boyfriend.... but i don't spend my whole life trying to 'sass' myself up thinking that this is the most important thing.

Pretty sad that they manufacture revealing clothing and then those who look are deemed perverts....HAH, oh the hypocrisy

edit: I say let people be who they want to be, just let them take the consequences with it...If someone looks, and you get offended, well, "why were you wearing it in the first place?" comes to mind.

I went to Great America at the beginning of this summer, and there were little girls running around in those tiny shorts you mentioned and strapless tanktops!!! I mean, it was insane!!! Every girl looked like that.. I'm only 18, yet I don't remember that from my childhood. Yeah I guess it's their choice and everything, but come on.. I think somewhere the line should be drawn nonetheless. Maybe they're too young to make those kind of choices.. they're kids!!!

I know what you mean about kids wearing "sexy" clothes. To me, it seems like mothers teaching their daughters how to use sexuality as a tool and a weapon. So many people associate the Sexual Revolution with hippies and free love in the '60s, but it seems like those who have profited most are the narcissists and petty predators, the hos and playahs. Because people are more open about sexuality in general, a lot of people feel less inhibited about using their sexuality in manipulative or foolishly selfish ways. For these people it just seems normal, how the game is played. When one of your main ways of getting along is inciting desire in others in order to control them, you just end up passing that along to your kids. It's how you survive, after all, and it's damned effective when you're a twenty-something female (as most of these moms seem to be). By the time you realize it was a bad idea, if you ever do, the behaviour has already passed itself along.

you see some creepy schitt at wal mart... i saw this 400lb lady screaming on a cell phone, "you're a real fucking piece of shit, you know that!?!?!" while being followed by a harem of little kids. and to top it off the lady had a big ass white shirt that went down to her double knees that said, "shut up bitch" in big black letters across the front. if that's not decency i don't know what is.

This bothers me more than any lack of clothing kids might want to wear...
I saw two fat women driving in a car with 2 little girls in the back. The women both had cigarettes burning...Wow, what a great message to put out there...And then kids get grounded or scolded when THEY want to try smoking. Hmm, does anyone else see something wrong with this picture? People like that should be arrested. That's ridiculous. And then someone like me is looked at as suspicious when I want to spend time with kids and set a good example for them...After all, I could be a CHILD MOLESTOR!!!!!!!!!!
