Zombie arrival imminent E.T.A 1 hour

This forum is seriously my haven. I've thought about this question so many times and somebody writes a post on it?? Thank you, thank you. :bowdown:

Here's what I would do:

Immediately drive to the Fry's right down the street. I would purchase as much water as I could fit in my car, a variety of vegetable seeds, soil and a variety of potting plants as well as a book on gardening (because I have no idea how it works). I would also load up on canned food and any other non-perishable items. I would also purchase an extendable ladder.

As soon as I got home, I would make sure everyone in my complex was informed of what was happening. I live in a gated 12-unit community. All the unit's face in towards a pool (which could probably be an eventual source of water if we needed it), and the gates can lock securely and are tall enough to keep the undead out. If we could get the place barricaded in time, it would be an ideal place to hole up for quite awhile.

I would then go into my townhouse and fill up every available space I could with water. Bathtub, all the sinks, any water bottles, pots, pans - as MUCH water as I can get. Then I would use my axe (yes, I actually already own one) to start destroying my stairs to the second story. This where the extendable ladder would come in handy. Easy access to a high place where zombies couldn't get.

I would grab lumber that is often around the dumpster outside my complex to nails boards over my two front windows. I have a balcony outside my bedroom. I would use that or the roof of the complex (which is flat) to start up my garden. Once I was running low I water, I would also eventually put a bunch of pots on the roof to collect rainwater.

Phew! And then I would just hang out and read books all day! :D YAY!

is bad idea to live in a 12 unit community(someone might open the gates for some idoitic reason) but a great idea to destroy your stairs! if you had food and water up there you be set for awhile. a garden on the roof is a great idea but how would you get enough soil up there? its great to hear everyonesplan keep it up!

You're right. I'd let people know the situation, but I won't trust anyone as far as I can throw 'em. I'd probably talk to people mostly from my balcony because everybody else has balconies that face into the complex. Ooh! Also, I'd grab that long stick thing that's used to clean the pool and duct tape a knife to the end or something so if zombies do happen to get into the complex, I can stab 'em. YEAH!

Oh, and as for the soil - I'd buy that at Fry's as well. :)

One thing I would advise that you consider is the fact that if you block off an entrance, you also block off a potential exit. A gate can keep things out, but it can also keep you and anything that gets past it in. If you destroy your only entrance, be prepared to stay there until the danger is past and make sure you have enough supplies to last through the entire ordeal. Chances are, you won't be going out for more.

As far as growing food, it takes time. If you have some 6 weeks to 6 months, then by all means try growing food, but keep in mind the amount of space that you have (corn takes up a lot of room) and how long it will last you. Peas and green beans and other vine-line vegetables would be a better idea than corn, as they tend to grow en masse and continue to grow for some time, whereas with corn and anything that grows underground , you may get more in a single vegetable/fruit, but that's all you have. Planting also takes water, so unless you're in a location where you can have sufficient sunlight and predictable, steady rainfall (though not too much), you might be up a creek.

Canned food is the way to go. If electricity is still working, frozen food will do nicely as well. You can go a long way with Hot Pockets :D Got me through one couple years of college!

I put exclamation marks by the ones I think would be the most useful.

Note: make sure the livestock isn't infected with anything. Also, depending on how quickly the virus/condition/whatever spreads, after a certain amount of time (a week?), if you do come across someone who seems normal, put them in quarantine until said time passes. Do not let them near you if they show any sign of hostility or aggression.

Also, find out the relationship between the kind of zombies they are and water. If they can't swim or water for some strange reason harms them, staying near water = good idea. If they can swim or move under the water, or for some reason need to drink water, avoid any potential drinking hole at all costs.

Thanks for my thread compliments keep posting : ) l have about 30 steps to my front door, there is a window above my door and i dont have guns if they tried getting in i would drop things on them, if they got in i would hide behing a premade blockade and hit them with a lead pipe if they then start breaking through that i would retreat into my attic which will have food, water, a radio and a tv.

most american cities are either really cold or really hot so either way the zombies will be killed.

Darn it. I did see your comment on the fruit. I was going to delete that, but had a brain fart. :P And by the nail gun, use a hammer on household chores, but use the gun to "nail" the zombies. Some of them have some power behind them!

I wonder... in Spokane, WA, they have a bunch of buildings that are connected by a 2nd or 3rd floor walkway. If you could get yourself into one of those buildings (assuming there weren't zombies already in there, or at least enough you could overcome), it would be a somewhat defendable location. If you are overrun in one building, you could run across to the next and blow up the bridge.

I'd have to put some thought into that idea. Even if it's a good location, if it's the middle of the city, there are plenty of places for zombies to hide and abandoned cars can easily block potential exits. Hmm...

Man! This sucks! No fair, my mom would force us to hide and she'd barricade. We don't have guns! I'd probably hide somewhere in a corner, or throw myself over the balcony (unless the zombies are already there) because it's only two floors up, then I'd run over to the school backyard, 'till I get into a good backyard and hide liek a coward, most likely, but if the time calls (it wolud) I'd try to get my hands on something, though I prabably would get gas and make cocktail bombs!

Well, I would meet up with two of my best friends. together, we can be very well armed :P In our last deep walk in the woods, we each had an average of 4 knifes. I had 6.

Zombie arrival in one hour.

A poorly devised plan for when you're an 18 year old guy living with his family in the suburbs outside Melbourne, Australia.

I feel safer armed, so weapons:

There aren't any guns stores or places to easily acquire firearms that I know about, but I know friends and have an uncle who own some firearms, but they'd live too far away and considering the traffic, I'd pass on trying to reach them.

So no guns.

The only sword shop that I know of only sells replicas of swords. I have a buster sword in my room... But it's made from wood!

So no swords.

And knives are two short-range and nearly useless if you need to destroy a zombie's brain to kill it. They're definitely useless if you're up against the truly animated dead who can't be stopped by anything short of incineration.

But I do have a nice crowbar waiting for me in the shed outside. So I'm armed with a crowbar, which I think is good enough for caving in some skulls, or breaking knee-caps if brain-trauma doesn't stop this kind of zombie. And with a crowbar, even if you're not too good at aiming at zombies, you can still... bat them out of the way, I guess.

My plan doesn't really gets fuzzy from there. I live with my family and wouldn't do a runner on them, so chances are I'd be following their plan, whatever that is.

However, I would argue strongly to my family:

Everyone be armed with some sort of blugeon for at least knocking zombies back if no lethal weapons are available. I'd definitely fill every container I could find with water.

I wouldn't want to leave the house because there'd be no way to drive, and some of my family aren't able-bodied enough to out-run your walking-zombies. Honestly, I wouldn't want to even step outside my own house under these circumstances.

I'd avoid fortifying the house entirely and spend what remains of that hour I've been given shifting supplies onto the roof with our ladder:

Supplies include:

- Anything that doesn't need cooking and won't go off without refridgeration.
- Lots of blankets, some waterproof plastic covers or just umbrellas ('tis winter right now).
- Empty tubs to be filled with water by hose once on the roof.
- Weapons, of course.
- A mobile phone to call anyone who might be useful.
- Books and things to amuse ourselves with.
- Packed backpacks with some basic supplies: food, vitamins, first aid kit, sleeping bags, etc.) for a quick escape.

We'd pull the ladder up and then pretty much lay low, try not to attract attention, and wait (and hope) for this whole thing to blow over in a few days.

If it looks like most humans are done for:

We'd wait for zombie hordes to move on, or at least hope they didn't start congregating around our house because of my mother and sister arguing loudly over something petty... and then we'd climb down, get our bikes, backpacks full of supplies, and ride to which ever direction the zombies came from (not where they're migrating too).
One thing is I'd definitely use bikes to move around, because they're quieter than walking yet fast, they can be carried, they don't require fuel, they can move through tight spaces, and - most importantly - everyone in my family can move relatively quickly with them.

Whenever we needed to stop for the night, we'd make sure there was a ladder nearby (we'd raid some person's shed or something - we have a whole day to come across somewhere to stay) and stay on some inaccessable part of a building, pulling the ladder up with us.

If we're still alive by then, which I highly doubt considering... everything above, I'd hope to be travelling to some underpopulated rural area, and hopefully find some other people in a better situation who would take us in.

Definitely sucks to be where I am when the zombies start a-comin' ...

Also, wouldn't it be weird (assuming zombies exist), if zombies passed on their zombie infecting disease sexually. :hrm: :lmao:

I would grab everyone on my street, and get back to my house (the base). Then, I would split up the group into three groups. One to stay and Help plan, the other as my soldiers (group 1) and the last as my toher soldiers (group 2). Then, I would take my armies up to the school nearby and steal the buses. Then , we would raid the Shoprite, and I would take my other soldiers to the gun shop not too far away. We would stay in contact via radio. We would fit all the supplies we can on to the busses. Then, we would barricade the doors to the house, and foritfy there. We would use the busses as transports, so when we run out of food, we could abandon the base and go to the shoprite, then the Costco, then the mall, then we would move out in the direction the zombies came from, stop at Cali, let the gays marry (lol, just including diversity), constantly listen to the radio and any TV's we find for updates on military fortifications, and pilot a ship across the pacific across to China and live there.

Problems:
Gas
What if China is infected?
What if we run out of ammo?
What if our armies get infected?
What if the zombies break into the transports?

Solutions:
Steal it....make an armada of trucks/cars, abandon when empty.
Go to the south pole. And Live underground.
Steal more...? Duh. Or break into an army base.
Give guns to the citizens.
We have guns in the bus. Duh.

I've planned this out like 2 years ago. It was fun :D!

All food in the house goes into the back of the truck. Grab my strongest 2 jackets, several jeans, socks, ect, in the truck. Bat, check. Long kitchen knives, check. Axe/hatchet/whatever, check. Gun, check. Wal-mart Samsclub run for water, canned foods, ammo, sleeping bags, other essentials I may not have at home. Keep time in house and store getting things to less than 40 mins. Leave town on the quickest route I know to the desert/mountains or as far as my truck will take me to low civilization areas. Find remote mountain spot, and hike back to car in as few a trips as possible to haul everything there. Booby trap area and buttonhole self until ready to try to make it to a more remote area such as the rockies, anywhere cold (canada) and out staying out of heavily populated regions at all times. No wounded survivors, no one who can't take care of themself follows with me. I'd leave 'em behind. Once I reach safety and until winter comes I avoid going into places like towns for food if I can. Pray.
