I Wonder. I Wah Wah Wah Wah Wahnderrrrerer.

I ask you, D.V. members, if someone were to offer to kill in you in exchange for making the world a better place, and you knew the offer was valid, would you die if it meant that life would be better for the rest of the human race?

If after your death, no other human being would suffer or die, and instead they would live in luxury forever and ever?

If yes, what if the proposition were to change slightly, what if instead of "no death" the rest of the humans merely lived to at least the age of 60 and for the rest of human existence non of them suffered and instead lived in luxury?

What is worth giving up your life for?

The question can further be posed for those who believe in Hell, because I think it an interesting question. If there are in fact people in Hell (place of unceasing torment) for eternity and the person in charge of who goes to Hell and who doesn't said to you, and you knew the offer to be valid, "if you go willingly to Hell instead of to Heaven (or whatever other place of peace and contentment) for all of eternity I will let you take the place of all past and future people meant to be in Hell" and assuming that there are people in Hell who aren't rapists or murderers or killers, etc., just plain old nice people who for some unnaparent reason didn't meat the criteria for entering heaven, for example, lets pretend your mother or father is in Hell and you actually loved your parents, would you take the offer?

I would gladly give my life for almost anything, but not for a good cause. So, no.

Better question I pose to you. Say for instance there was a heaven and a hell and souls were eternal and all that jazz. Let's also say that you were given a choice...go to heaven in exchange for 50 million people going to hell...or you go to hell for all of eternity if it meant that 50 million people would be going to heaven and get to be with their families. What would you choose? Fire and brimstone, hot as hades, excruciatingly painful torture for all of eternity type hell is the one I'm talking about.

Yes, if it meant that I would die, and just die. No hell, or heaven, or whatever. Just die to make lots of other people happy.
But no, if the number was limited, or I had to go to hell.

Is there a God involved? If God is the one proposing this situation then I would rather choose to be in Hell than receive benefits from a God who would ask such a thing of me.

If there is no God involved...I would have to still go to Hell. One person over 50 million? No, I couldn't let such a thing happen. However I would undoubtedly regret choosing hell after being there.

At Sandform's question: No, I would not die for everyone to live in a utopia.

At Jeff's question: I would choose to go to heaven.

Yes. But ONLY because of the simple fact that you would go down in history FOREVER for being a complete badass motherfucker. It's worth missing out on the other 20-30 years of my life. =P

As for Jeff's q... HELL no. Those ppl in hell are obviously there for a reason. (I don't believe in it thought) So i'd go to heaven
