There is a movie coming out in 2006 called "A Scanner Deeply". It has Keannu Reeves, Robert Downey Jr., Wynona Ryder, and Woody Harrelson in it. It is directed by Robert Linklater, who directed "Waking Life", and it uses the same kind of animation. Does anyone think that it will contain any fascinating themes in it such as astral travel or lucid dreaming? Has anyone even heard of it? |

Yeah, I heard about it (I checked it out today actually - well, I looked into it I mean). It seems to be pretty good. Anyways, it won't have any lucid stuff. This is based on the Phillip K. Dick book of the same book, which doesn't have to do with lucids. The style of the movie is similar to waking life, but it is a completely different plot. Anyways, they use rotoscoping to create that effect - that is tracing over all the frames in a movie to create a seemingly "animated" movie, but the movements of characters are easier to be more fluid. From that, they can modify and distort the images when tracing, as seen in waking life (the characters displayed a very wide variety of distorted movement). This movie will be pretty artsy I think, but I don't know much about the plot. I will probably read the book. |
