I havnt seen anyone talk about this here so im gonig to ask.
Why do we sleep walk. Is sleep walking what we are doing in our dreams?walking. But doesnt our body go into sleep paralysis, so how do we walk around, if we cant move?

If I recall correctly, sleepwalking occurs during the sleeping state when the body is taken care of, and when one is unconcious. Obviously the body is not paralyzed when one is sleepwalking, else it wouldn't be possible.

I have sleepwalked twice. From one of the times I have memories. I was slamming and opening a door repeatedly, haha. Then my mom came and took me to a bed.

I do not know why we sleepwalk, but I know for a fact that one is not paralyzed. During one episode of sleepwalking, I had walked downstairs sat down in front of the television with my father and had a conversation with him. I must have seemed off somehow because he told me that as I walking back upstairs he asked me an arithmetic problem which I answered incorrectly in a manner that was not common to me which tipped him off to the fact that I was sleepwalking. Has anyone else been told that they spoke to someone while sleepwalking?

I spoke to someone whilst sleepwalking once. It was about five or six years ago, I left my room and went out into the living room, where I asked my stepfather "Are you EVER gonna get around to fixing my bed or what? It's still in there, in a bunch of pieces!". Then I went off back to bed. My bed wasn't broken in any way, I was just messed up.

Haha, it is pretty fun what one can say when not fully conscious. I have said lots of weird shit when my mom have tried to get me up from bed to go to school before.

Actually this topic was just talked about in my psychology class. Well, everyone goes through a sleep cycle about every 90min which consists of 5 stages. 1-4 are all non-REM and there are dreams but not usually very clear ones. It's the 5th, REM stage that we dream in.

During the REM period there actually is a horomone released in the body that practically paralyzes all your muscles so that way you're not walking around and acting out all your dreams. Sleep walking usually occurs in about the 3rd stage and usually only in the 1st few cycles so you're more inclined to sleepwalk early in the night.

Haha, once, when I was little (about eight), I sleepwalked downstairs to my parents bedroom, and told them that "everything is upside down, even the tv, and my hat". They said that I sounded pretty scared, just telling them about all of the things that were upside down. They let me sleep in their bed that night cause they thought I was crazy due to lack of sleep.

I had a friend that used to sleepwalk in 5th grade. He said that he could vividly see his entire house and he navigated through it while sleeping. He went downstairs and made some cereal, then went into sp. He told me that sleepwalking is dangerous so he had to learn how not to sleepwalk.
