.How often does sleep paralysis happen to any of you? 7 out of 10 times if I sleep on my back im likely to have it. It all started when i was around 11 or 12, I was sleeping on the floor of my parents room and awoke feeling someone standing on my back. I actually felt that i could knock them off if I wanted to but was way too scared. over the years ive had it but only sparringly but as i got older and older they happend more often and they became more intense. The incident when i was 11 was the first time i felt someone standing on me, but after that it was that I just could not move. But now whenever it happens I feel that there is something ominus in the room with me that wants to take over my body. I become terrified when this happens and I try to force myself to move eventaully shaking myself out of it. Sometimes I feel hands over me holding me down but when I awake a pillow or the sheets are where I believed the hands to be. It seems like im maybe kinda dreaming when it happens or hallucinating , do any of you guys have any experiences like this happen to you?

That sounds like a pretty typical SP experience. It's not fun while you're going through it, but it won't harm you.

My SP problems are less typical in that they started maybe a year or year 1/2 ago. I normally get attacks when I sleep on my side. What I've noticed since joining this board is that improving my sleep habits (in order to LD) has really reduced the SP. Basically, the attacks are a lot more frequent when I'm especially tired and sleep deprived. Stress probably has something to do with it, too.

I get a feeling of being weighted or pulled down and have the tingles. I try desparately to move but can't...then, boom, I'm awake. It's not unusual from me to sense people outside the windows trying to break into the house or hear them playing with the door locks. Scary, but not as bad as a lot of people experience with the evil "presence."

Yeah I mean not physical harm or anything. But everytime I experience SP I feel terror like someone has a gun to my head and that has to do some harm. I mean im scared to sleep on my back cause I know it will happen if I do

Just try and remember that youre going through SP and no ones really pointing a gun at you. It may feel like terror but you have to get in your head that nothing is really going wrong. I understand why youre afraid to sleep on your back but the fear is just something you have to get over.
Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

Celebrating the fifth year anniversary of you asking me this question.

      No physical harm, correct.

IMO, the fear from an occasional SP attack wouldn't cause you long term psychological damage any more than a scary movie if you understood what's happening isn't supernatural. But I wouldn't doubt this could happen if the sufferer believes that something other than a physical phenomenon is occurring (e.g. demonic visits, black magic, and the like). That would scare the crap out of most people.

Theres no gun pointed at me during these hallucinations or whatever they are, I was just using the gun thing as an example of the level of fear I face during SP. I know that its not real (atleast I hope its not) but that has no bearing on me when im in SP. I can't rationalize anything, all i think about is this being that wants me dead and i have to escape no matter what

I wouldn't really worry about it, it's just something that you have to get through. When I enter the SP stage, I get a horrific fear that a midget is standing next to me, or over me. It's a very extreme feeling of fear but most of the time I can just ignore it until it goes away. It's hard to though, sometimes I can't, but you just got to work with it, I guess.

Hey my brothers a midget! he isn't scary... angry and abusive... but not scary!
Seriously though I know what you mean about sleep paralysis. I got it when I was about 10 and I had loads of auditry voices and the thought that something nasty was standing behind me. Obviously since I didn't know what it was I was terrified. But the next time it happened I thought "This probably has happened to other people so I'll go find out about it" and here I am! though to this stay even though I know it's all my head I still get unerved every now and then if I get Old Hag. I just try and think "If I keep my cool, it'll be worth it if can turn it into an LD"
It says my lucid age is 10 years+ that's true but I still have recall issues

Opposite for me - it decreased with age

Started when I was 1 or 2 years old (one of my earliest memories is actually me hallucinating in Sleep Paralysis..)

Peaked at age 11-12. I thought they were just very bad nightmares. I never knew I was actually half awake and staring into my real room at times.

The worst was when I would battle out of one, sit up in bed to be so thankful I was awake, lay back down, and immediately get sucked back into it and have to battle out of it again.

Now at age 19 I maybe get it 2-3 times a year spontaneously.

I induce it a lot now for WILDings... and well, I love it now. It's sooooo fun. The intense rushes, the interesting hallucinations. But yeah, when I was younger, it was so terrifying.

Out of 50 or so, I only had 2 hag experiences, and they weren't nearly as bag as they once were I was younger. I actually fought my way through one right into a lucid
