      Hey, I would really like to know some of the negative effects of not getting enough sleep and what getting enough sleep can do for me. I am going to attempt to get more sleep and I'd like to see what it can do for me

      The couple of negative effects i know from lack of sleep is:
      1- Lack of energy
      2- Lack of concentration
      3- Slowed metabolism (???)

      OH and too much sleep is bad. 11 + is bad. Dunno why.

      Some people ( Me, I know ), have vivid hallucinations, and clearly hear noises, such as cars crashing, knocking noises, footsteps, screams, etc... Also, if you go without sleep long enough, your body will shut down.

      Positive effects include...

      The exact opposite of what I stated above.

      I'd have on-and-off insomnia since I was 16. Inadequate sleep:

      1) Increases my awareness of pain
      2) Slows down the healing process and makes me more prone to injury and colds, etc.
      3) Worsens my overall mood (never a good thing) and makes normal stress less tolerable
      4) Causes SP occur more frequently
      5) Ruins my dream recall
      6) Leaves me feeling disconnected and makes my thinking less disciplined. I forget stuff more easily, make errors, and don't feel as sharp as I should at work
      7) Saps all my energy so I can't enjoy exercise or my other hobbies nearly as much

      Enough sleep makes a world of difference. Even though I'm awake for fewer hours, I get so much more done and have physical/mental energy to spare.

      If you do not sleep, you will die in roughly the same time it takes to starve to death. Contrary to popular belief you can NEVER get too much sleep. My professor at my university was a sleep specialist incase you are wondering where I am getting this information.
