      Disturbing faces

So I have this problem when I wake up to try and pull off an FILD. For some reason when my eyes are closed, I think of the most disturbing faces like you'd see in flash pranks with the pop-up/sound. The worst one that pops into my head is the exorcist girl's face. I ABSOLUTELY HATE THAT FACE! Even when I try to think of something else, like apples for instance, it seems like its always there... like faintly in the background. This is very annoying because it always messes me up while I'm in the middle of an FILD attempt. I always think that if I FILD with even the slightest thought of the images, they'll become really vivid and then I'll start to hear frightening Hypnagogic sounds or something. Or, if I make it passed all that, "open my eyes" only to see a ton of people in my room with totally messed up faces. I REALLY don't want any of the two to happen.

So... I'm wondering if there is anyway I can overcome this. Help is appreciated!

One time when I was trying to WILD my bedroom door slowly creaked open and I heard demonic laughter and sinister music playing in the background. Then I saw a grim reaper floating towards me reaching out. I was experiencing sleep paralysis at the time so it scared the shit out of me, lol.

To be totally honest with myself, I experience the same unavoidable thoughts your talking about. My brain completely forgets about them within about a thirty seconds. Sometimes they come back.. sometimes they don't.. but they have never manifested themselves in my dreams.

Even during lucid dreams, scary thoughts and images have popped into my head. You can tune it out to some degree and, although you still have a slight image of it in the back of your mind, it doesn't seem too consistent in actually coming into the dream. In fact, I've never had anything scary happen in my lucid dreams.

Basically, I wouldn't worry about it. You should continue with your FILD regardless of your current thoughts..

-jedimind- Yeah... that doesn't really help my situation, no offense.

-Casualtie- Nice to know someone has been in a similar situation. I feel a bit confident now, thanks. And thanks for the fast reply. I made this topic right before I took a shower and saw the replies right when I got back.

      Hey,

I understand where your coming from, as I've had some terrifying expereinces with sleep paralysis.

What you need to know is that you have the power to see what you want to see. Acknowledge what you see, in this case, the horrifying face, and watch it morph into something else. Once you find relaxation in the fact that nothing will hurt you, you should be able to relax, and even enjoy.

Once you've relaxed, take advantage of SP! Stay still, imagine yourself rolling out of your body and within a few minutes you should be in an LD!

I know you can do this,

      Good luck
