Talking How to fall asleep pretty quick

this is a way that works for me but might not for you.

you see i got this lucky green pillow and it haven't been wash for like 5 years (i mean it) and it makes the pillow kinda really soft, the material inside is made from old wool i think. Well anyway every time i hug something (especially the lucky pillow) i fall asleep in about 5 minutes. So the next 4 days i sleep in different ways: on my left side, on my right side, on my back and on my stomach. For some reason they all got the same result, i fell asleep in about 5 minutes.
The next day i try hugging a normal pillow and what do you know? i feel asleep in about 5 - 7 minutes.
So i think hugging something while going does help.

Note: make sure you are not uncomfortable example: too cold, too warm under the blanket...etc.

Nice idea, but when u hug the pillow, do u hug it only once, or until u go to sleep?

yeah i can totally confirm this... whenever i have the chances and my parents aren`t home, i go over to their big bed, with big pillow... and sometimes i sleep hugging the pillow, and its like ... express.. xD

it's probably because the body feels safer.

Recently i've found that my stomach and abdomen are getting very sensitive, and sleeping with my hands resting there (or even a pillow) will cause me to have funky dreams, aching pains in the morning etc.

How do you manage to sleep on your stomach?

And sleeping alone, vs. sleeping with others, also might provide some clues on this.

Yeah! I like hugging pillows, they're so comfortable.

But if only this worked for lucid dreaming, that would be so cool. Oh well, I'll try hugging my bed as if it's a really good looking girl to get to sleep, lol!

Also, a Wild attempt at night before you sleep altogether is a good method of sleep, the real Wild attemps are with Wbtb. But I mean Wild as in imagining you are somewhere and using your minds eye to hear, see and even feel things, so basically I mean Vild. Yes, I know, why the hell didn't I say that at the start?

Anyway, does anyone want a picture of a cool pillow?

It`s an anchor thing. Your subconscious associates you hugging the pillow to falling asleep. You are totally convinced that hugging this pillow will make you fall asleep faster, and low and behold, you fall asleep faster! Cool how the mind works, eh ?

It works, normally I'd be in bed untill 3:00 in the morning based on fact I went to bed at 3:00, but I got up at about 12:00 which is good. Pillows FTW!

It was on the floor next to my bed in the morning though.

Yes it does, if a straight person went to sleep hugging someone from the opposite gender, I'm sure they'd fall asleep easier, unless they get horny.....

What, in a Michael Jackson way or a Bill Oddie way?

Well, I suppose if the animal went to sleep first, then stroking a rabbit or cuddling it would probably be kind of the same as hugging the pillow, or a kitten. But, obviously if it was a reptile then it would be pretty horrible to cuddle. Although if you got horny with an animal that would be pretty sick.

Funny, I do the same thing with my soft red body pillow :p

I also recommend talking to your pillow, talk to it as if it were a best friend, that usually helps me relax...

Yeah, I forgot what I looked up on Google, but that's how I found that. I think I typed in 'Pillow', I forgot. But no I'm not some kind of perverted freak who fancies Furnishings, although that pillow looks so comfortable that I am now errect. Yes, it's a joke!

And now I have a random thought, I quite like your signiture. It's like a morph between Cloud and Naruto!

Is that the right spelling? Or is it 'Fancys'?

I have horrible trouble falling asleep (usually it takes me more than an hour, after the lights are off and my eyes are closed, and I just can't bear whispering "I will wake up after dream period and remember my dream" to myself for an hour and a half), so I'll try this tonight! Psychologically, this probably works either because of the company-comfort response, as mentioned above, or parental instinct (as though you were hugging a small child). I've observed squirrel siblings and parents to retire much faster when they are together than when they are separated.

I'd recommend a large, plush stuffed animal, but that's just me.

      Thanks again for the suggestion!
