      Choppy Sleeping

This happens to me off and on [more often than not as of last month]. I sleep for 2-3 hours then wake up for anywhere between half an hour to an hour and fall back asleep, the whole night it repeats until I need to get up...

The issue is, it's really messing with my recall and mood. I wake up fatigued in the morning after periodically waking up so randomly energized at night.

Any solutions/advice? Do think it'll end with a melatonin?

I've been having problems staying asleep lately too.

With the holidays past maybe now is a good time to rework a stable sleep schedule.

I use melatoinin when I feel I need some good deep sleep but I usually feel hung over after taking it. Mentally I feel better but my body feels as if I'd been on a week long bender.

Eww, that sounds no fun. How many do you take? Whenever I use it, I use one... I think it messes with my recall when I use it. And sometimes it's failed me...

I have had spotty recall with it.
The strips I use are 3 mg a piece. I think that my body goes into shock or something from going into a deeper sleep that I'm used to.

I use 3 mg too, but the latest bottle I have contains some sort of natural relaxation thing... theanine...

      I've never heard of theanine.

So the point of it is to relax you as the melatonin kicks in? Seems like a double dose of stuff. Maybe it's too much of a good thing to work properly? Or maybe it's something I'd have more success with? Perhaps it's time to experiment on ourselves.

I'm still struggling to sleep through the night but then I'm still struggling to get back on my usual sleep schedule. I'm hoping that will smooth out the rough patches during the night. I think the season might have something to do with it in my case too. I suspect the additional hours of dark are messing me up somewhat, making me tired when I shouldn't be, which makes me oversleep during my nap which in turn makes my core sleep disturbed.

If that isn't it then I'll have to revise my sleep sched. and experiment to see if I need more or less sleep.

Wow, I can't wait to see if the experimenting works for the better. As for me, naps never come to me unless I'm very ill... so I can't do much but tweak my sleeping times. Plus, my classes start up tomorrow so I need to be up at 5:50, which might not be so bad since I randomly wake up around 3:40 and 4:20 AM quite often.
